I Calls 'Em the Way I Sees 'Em

There is a faction in America that will never be satisfied with anything President Obama does. This is why it has been so easy for the GOP leaders to get so many people to disrupt the town hall meetings. Healthcare reform has very little to do with it. If you watch closely, you'll see that most of the rabblerousers are older and on Medicare, even though they rale against "government run healthcare." Don't try to tell me they don't know that their Medicare comes from the government. It's just an excuse.

So, what is the real reason? When you look at those ugly, distorted faces, you realize that racism has reared its ugly head. That's where all the anger is coming from. The media's got it wrong. This is nothing like what happened in Florida in 2000, when the GOP sent in the Brooks Brothers Brigade to stop the vote count. Those people were having fun. Pranksters. Dirty-tricksters. The people at the rallys are haters.

And, so, I believe the town hall meetings should be canceled and other venues used to answer the legitimate questions about healthcare reform from legitimate constituents. Local television programming is one way for the Congressmen to explain their views. They already know the questions, if they've paid any attention to their e-mails, faxes, snail mail and phone calls. Or, failing that, if they just turn on CNN or the Nightly News or any of the other news programs.

The main reason I believe the town hall meetings should be canceled, though, is because if not, someone is going to be seriously injured or killed. It seems inevitable.

It's the anger. The hatred. The racism.

Stay tuned.

Random Thoughts For A Monday

It's really funny the way John McCain and Sarah Palin keep calling Obama a Socialist. Especially in the face of the gigantic bailout of the banks and mortgage companies that Bush and the Congress and Senate have foisted off on the taxpayers.

-----

Now, the auto industry wants $15 Billion more, on top of the $25 Billion that has already been allocated for them. Might I be so bold as to suggest that the auto industry got itself into this shape because they moved all the jobs out of the country years ago, thanks to Nafta, as did many other industries? Why shoud they expect a country that they sold out to step up and save their bacon with bailouts that will ultimately be paid for by many of the very taxpayers that they laid off in their run for the border?

I say no bailouts until they start bringing jobs back into the country.

-----

Furthermore, it's very obvious to me that the prescription drug program, known as Medicare Part D has many, many flaws and could stand some reform of its own. I have a feeling that if we manage to get a large majority in the House and Senate this year, they had better do something about this blatant giveaway to the Insurance Companies, or we aren't going to be too particular about which party gets voted out next time, just the individuals who try to perpetuate this program as it is. They can start showing their good faith by getting rid of that idiotic donut hole, and make the insurance companies cover everyone ALL YEAR, instead of just up to a point, whereby they gleefully continue to collect premiums during the months they don't have to cover anyone.

-----

Here's something to ponder: If we can spend trillions bailing out the fat cats, who's to say we couldn't bail out Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid if they start to go under? Or, would that be too beneficial for ordinary citizens?

-----

Oh, I'm so glad Sarah is wearing her own clothes again. I'm sure she is much more comfortable. And I'm glad she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck are keeping the story alive day after day.

Methinks McCain has created a monster.

By the way, if you think racism hasn't reared its ugly head in the campaign, you should be reading my e-mail. Some of the stuff people are sending me just make me sick. But then, I live in one of the most racist areas of a basically racist state. Maybe it's not as bad elsewhere?

I Love A Rainy Day

But, enough is enough. These old bones have ached for a month and a half, and I'm tired of it. It's time for a little sunshine.

Looks as though West Virginia put a little sunshine in Hillary's life, at least temporarily. It won't be enough for her to win, but it is enough for her to keep on until the primaries are finally over. She needs to try to recoup some of the million$ she has lent to her campaign.

Which brings me to the Super Delegates. It seems to me that they should have remained neutral until the primaries are over. Same goes for the sitting Senators and Congresspeople and Governors. After all, they are supposed to represent their constituents, so they should let the voters decide the race. Then, when it's all over and the mud dries up, they can endorse the candidate their own state voters chose. Why do we have delegates, anyway, if they are not going to do what we want them to do? Huh?

But, especially the Super Delegates. After all, they're only there to prevent some kind of disaster, aren't they? Like making sure the voters don't elect a blithering idiot? Whatever you might think about Hillary, she is not unsuitable. So shouldn't the Super Delegates sit down and shut up?

I continue to have the sinking feeling that the Democrats have, once again, screwed the pooch, as they say at NASA. This kind of divisive race is not something we needed this year, when it seemed we couldn't possibly lose. We surely CAN lose. It all comes down to whether the voters are more biased against women or black people. We have gotten into the unfortunate habit of voting "against" rather than "for" a candidate.

West Virginia voters showed us which candidate they were against, didn't they? Phew! Did you see some of the comments made by the citizens of that state? Makes one think that maybe we should just build a big old wall around it so none of them can escape and taint the rest of the country. Maybe it's all those coal mines. Makes them live like moles, always in the dark.

And, now that they have made their racism crystal clear, they can go on to vote solidly Republican in the general election.

I don't mind admitting, I have never been as undecided about an election as I have been this one. One day, I think I want Hillary to win, and the next day, I'm convinced that Obama is the best bet.

All I know is I'll vote for whoever is the candidate!
