The last thing the Democrats need is for their own members to turn on them. I'm talking about Donna Brazile, in her new book that trashes Hillary Clinton, specifically, and Elizabeth Warren, who piled on by saying the DNC rigged the primaries in favor of Clinton.

Ronald Reagan had a pretty good idea when he said that no Republican should say anything against a fellow Republican. Their grievances have stayed in-house until the current batch of politicians, who seem intent on eating their young.

I'll admit I have only read excerpts of Brazile's book, but they are enough to convince me that she is pretty bitter these days about Hillary, who she wholeheartedly supported during the campaign. Makes me wonder what has caused the about-face now. Could it be because she is now out of a job and she had been counting on a place in the Clinton cabinet? Or, maybe she's just trying to hit all of the talk shows, a feat which she has accomplished, handily. So, her fifteen minutes are up.

Then, there's Elizabeth Warren. Warren supported Bernie Sanders, which is fine, even though he isn't a Democrat and has never lifted a finger to help in the Democrats' fund-raising efforts. But, after he lost, we could expect Warren to do exactly what she did, which is to switch her support to Clinton. Now that it's all over but the whining, you'd think she wouldn't sink to calling the primaries "rigged" in favor of Clinton.

The Democrats are working to get their act together as much as is possible for Democrats. Now is not the time for their members to take their personal beefs out on their party.

They had big wins in recent elections, most notably in Virginia. Let's see what happens in the 2018 election.

Stay tuned.

As I understand it, at least at this point, Hillary Clinton and the DNC made a deal to share contributions. The deal was offered to Hillary and Bernie, but Bernie declined, probably because he didn't want to share with the DNC, not being a Democrat and all. Or, maybe he knew he just wasn't going to raise as much money as Hillary, at first anyway. Whatever. The deal wasn't illegal. So, Trump can stop calling for an FBI investigation.

I suspect that if Bernie had agreed to the fund-sharing, he would now be claiming he didn't get as much out of the deal as Hillary. I don't know this, of course, but it seems to be the way things are going.

I also suspect that the media has cherry-picked this from Donna Brazile's book in order to do some more Tsk-Tsk-Tsk-ing at Hillary, as they have done since the 1990's. I'm not going to read the book to find out.

It's not that I am all that crazy about Hillary as the candidate. I was one Democrat who was telling everyone I didn't think she should run because she had too much baggage. And, I thought she would be much more effective as a Senator, for a much longer time. We'll never know if I was right.

At any rate, it is obvious that the DNC needs a complete overhaul. They have had problems for a while, now, and if they don't get busy, we're going to have to suffer the Comrade Trump until at least 2020, and possibly 2024. It makes cold chills run up and down my spine.

And, imagine how much damage the Republicans can do by 2024 if they stay in the majority. Having NO checks and balances in our government is the pits.

The DNC needs some new rules and some new blood. As much as I love Joe Biden, he's just too old to be running for president, and, Elizabeth Warren is too abrasive. She's better off where she is, too, whether she knows it or not.

It seems to me that the Democrats are two entities - the DNC and the rest of the Democrats throughout the country. It has always seemed that way to me. The DNC is made up of the "insiders" and the rest of us are just waiting to see what we will have to vote for in the next election.I think we need some Democratic leaders who come from the masses of ordinary Democrats.

And, we need a better slogan than "A Better Deal."
Oh, I do love a good conspiracy theory. I especially love the ones about the Kennedy assassination. Not only do I love them, I believe them - mostly.

I, along with millions of others, watched the assassination live on television, and I can tell you that when the shots range out, the television cameras swung around and focused on that grassy knoll. Don't try to tell me there wasn't someone there. Don't patiently explain that the sound is skewed because of the way the buildings are situated.

Years later, when I visited that same grassy knoll, I was pleased to see the card tables other theorists had set up, with all kinds of pamphlets that they were handing out to anyone who would take them. I saw the window through which Lee Harvey Oswald waited for the Presidential motorcade to reach just the right place so he could get JFK in his sights and fire. I believe he shot JFK. I just don;t believe he acted alone, because I don't believe he could snap off three perfect shots in so short a time.

Why no, I'm not a ballistics expert. Why do you ask?

Yesterday was the day that the President was supposed to release the rest of the reports from the FBI that were supposed to clear it all up and lay to rest all our theories. What he released, at the request of the FBI and CIA, was a wad of papers, heavily redacted, and far short of the Three Thousand or so documents that we are supposed to take for the truth of the matter. Rats! Now I have yet another conspiracy theory.

New theory: The FBI and CIA were reluctant to release the documents, so they convinced Pres. Trump to release a relatively small number hoping to satisfy everybody, and with the promise that they would "revisit" the subject in six months, What are they trying to hide? Is it the fact that they messed up their investigations? You're welcome.

They're after poor Hillary again, trying to convince us that she and the DNC are to blame for the infamous dossier that came to light after the election. But, their hopes have been dashed, whether they realize it or not.

It seems some as yet unnamed Republican hired a company named Fusion GPS to do opposition research on Donald Trump. This unnamed Republican was a foe of Donald Trump, and then, when the campaign was over, the unnamed foe gave up, leaving Fusion GPS with a juicy dossier put together by a former MI6 operative named Christopher Steele.

Then, the DNC hired Fusion and Steele to continue their research, which resulted in the dossier being made public.

Clinton at first denied any knowledge of the dossier, but finally acknowledged that the DNC did pay for the Steele research. I don't know what happened after Trump finally won, but the dossier stayed in the news and now Mueller and the various investigative committees are trying to find out who hired Fusion to begin with. Fusiion seems to be resisting.

Meanwhile, there are parts of the dossier that have been proven true and other, salacious parts, that no one seems to be able to confirm.

Here's the thing. Opposition research is common and candidates don't have to admit doing it if they don't want to. Smart candidates do opposition research on themselves just to see what kind of dirt, other candidates are finding out about them. It's all part of the game, and there's no scandal in it, except the information, if any, gleaned from said research.

So, the Republicans can sit down and shut up and worry about their own reputations. They're not looking very good right now, and it's going to get worse.
It's usually a good sign for the party not in the majority when members of the opposing party start resigning and deciding to retire. But, I wonder if this is a typical mid-term.

Trump is celebrating, because he thinks he has won the war. And, he may have. The latest rat to leave the hopefully sinking ship is Jeff Flake. of Arizona. Will Arizona voters turn around and vote Democratic in the election? Or, will the GOP put up someone even worse than Flake, and will voters flock to him like they have other far right wing candidates?

Will the Republican party split in half? Or will the right wing wackos simply take over entirely and banish the few sensible members who are left. If so, where will the Moderates go?

I can't help but wonder why in the world the Republicans are allowing Trump to divide the party. I can only think of two possible reasons. One, they are more afraid of Pence than they are of Trump. Or, Two, they are waiting until they are able to pass a bill that will get them the tax breaks for the rich that they want.
Is it asking too much that the President focus on the important things and speak truth rather than lies? That he not try desperately to find a way to use nuclear weapons, but to find ways to avoid it? That he show respect to all people, whatever their beliefs, race, or nationality? That he dig deep and find empathy for those who have suffered from natural disasters? That he find a way to express sorrow to parents, spouses, children and other family members of fallen service men and/or women? That he surround himself with people who know more about government, and when they offer assistance to him, he accepts their advice? Is it asking too much that the President appeal to the better angels of the citizens who wish their own country harm?

Is is asking too much to expect the President to simply be a decent human being?

Is it asking too much that members of the House of Representatives and Senate act as agents of "checks and balances" as they were elected to do? To ask them to have the integrity to do what they know is best for the country, rather than what is best for the Party? To pass bills that they know will be for the good of the people, and raise them up, instead of tearing them down?

Is it asking too much for them to simply be decent human beings?

I don't think it was an accident when both former presidents Bush and Obama made similar-sounding speeches admonishing both President Trump and his followers. I think they are so alarmed at the direction this country is going that they were compelled to speak out. And, I hope they will influence other people of integrity to speak out, too.

It's time to drown out the naysayers who want nothing more than to bring down our government, and who better to do it than former office-holders of both parties?
I realize I haven't posted since before the election. That's because the election left me speechless. What a travesty. I understand, and even agree that big changes need to be made in Washington. I even understand the rationale behind a "protest vote" to get the attention of the elected officials. But, this particular protest vote? If you are serious about your protest, you ought to make sure that the person you are voting for is someone who will not bring down the entire government. If that was the actual goal of your vote, shame on you.

People were so focused on the Presidential election, they forgot that the people who are doing the most harm are the people in the House and Senate. They are the ones who should have been voted out of office if we were so determined to make positive change. Trump would have been irrelevant if one or the other (or both) Houses had been flipped. It is never a good idea when both houses and the White House are held by the same party - either party. When that happens, there are no checks and balances.

When I turn on the TV every morning, I listen to the latest inane tweets that came from the President while he wandered the halls of the White House in his robe and jammies in the early hours of the morning.

It's just a distraction and it's all the media can talk about, when they ought to be watching not what he says, but what he does. They still haven't figured that out. There is a lot of talk about Trump's ability to drive the news cycle. Well, he can only drive it if they let him, by going on and on about what he tweets. They can report what he tweets and then move on to more important things that are being obscured.

The 2016 election just shows how dangerous protest votes can be. On a much smaller scale, when Bill Clinton was governor of Arkansas, he enraged everyone by raising the price of auto license tags. So, when the next election rolled around, and we were still mad, we decided to teach him a lesson. We thought by voting for his opponent, Frank White, he would get the picture when he saw how many fewer votes he got, but we didn't think he'd actually lose the election. Well, it backfired on us, and we had to endure Frank White as Governor, and everyone made fun of White and us until we could re-elect Bill Clinton. So, who learned a lesson? We did.

I hope the Trump voters will realize their protest has backfired on them.
I have been at a loss for words for this whole campaign. I started out by saying that I hoped Hillary wouldn't run because I knew what she (and we) would have to go through throughout the campaign, and beyond, if she won. I didn't want to go through it, even though I have waited a long, long time to be able to vote for a woman for President. So, when she won the Primaries, I decided to vote for her, and grin and bear it throughout a difficult campaign.

However, I had no way of knowing how mean spirited and disappointing the campaign would be. I have never, ever heard such vitriol spewed from any candidate as I heard from Donald Trump. I hoped that Hillary would be able to rise above it and ignore the nastiness and just stick to her positions. Alas, she couldn't help but sink to his level at times.

I was appalled when Donald Trump actually won. And, I was mad at Hillary.

Now that the dust has cleared, everyone is analyzing what went wrong. So, I think I'll do my own analyzing, if you can stand it.

For over a year, the media aired every single word Trump uttered. They took his phone calls, covered his rallies, repeated his tweets, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the show. During that time, they rarely even said Hillary's name, let alone reported on her speeches. It was only when they realized that the race could be close that they went into panic mode and turned against Trump.

Then, the FBI got into the act, showing a partisanship that no one realized existed. The head of the FBI pleased the Democrats when he made a highly unusual speech clearing Hillary of any criminal wrongdoing, and declining to recommend an indictment. He said everything against her that he could possibly say before he cleared her. That should have been the end of the e-mail scandal that wasn't a scandal at all. But, no, at the end of the campaign, Comey gave in to pressure and, eleven days before the election, sent a letter suggesting he might be re-opening the investigation. He didn't come out and SAY it, just let everyone assume what he meant. Then, the weekend before the election, he sent a letter saying they had discovered nothing new in the e-mails of Houma Abedin. But, it was too late. The damage was done. I hope President Obama tells Comey that he will accept his resignation before he leaves office.

Then, there was Hillary, herself. She spent an astonishing amount of money that did absolutely no good at all, not even in the down-ticket races. She ran a race that left no doubt in anyone's mind that she was the quintessential insider, at a time when the country was in a mood to kick them all out and elect the ultimate outsider. She didn't hold any big rallies and she concentrated on the cities and ignored the rural areas altogether, in spite of the fact that Bill Clinton warned against this tactic. Apparently, he was ignored, to Hillary's peril.

The pollsters made a similar mistake, polling in the more urban areas, and creating false hope among the Clinton voters, to the point that many of them didn't bother to vote.

As I warned, at the time, a large number of Bernie's millennials didn't bother to vote.

In the meantime, we're stuck with a flim-flam man in the White House, who will do everything he can to enrich himself and his family. I guess the voters ultimately get what they deserve.

But, the fact remains that Hillary did win the popular vote, for all the good that does her. We have to make major changes in the way we conduct elections in this country. If I knew what could be done, I'd say so, but some way we have to ensure that everyone's vote is meaningful. In many states, including my state of Arkansas, our votes didn't count at all.

In the meantime, we're stuck with a flim-flam man in the White House, who will do everything he can to enrich himself and his family at the expense of the government and, maybe even the U.S. Treasury. I guess the voters ultimately get what they deserve.

So what do you think should be done in future elections?

Stay tuned.
I thought he'd never shut up. Not that I watched a minute of the convention. I just saw the highlights every evening on the nightly news.

It's over, at last- the train wreck that was the Republican Convention. It's time to return to reality. Does anyone else think it's hilarious that the song that was played at
the end was "You Can't Always Get What You Want?" The Rolling Stones
must be so proud.

I'm looking forward to next week's Democratic Convention, which could be a circus of another kind, frankly. But, not nearly as painful.

Why does anger and hatred always seem to work? The man is an empty suit. And, I'm frankly afraid he could actually be elected. I hate to think what will happen to this country if he does. The Republicans in the Senate and Congress will roll right over him, and he's not smart enough to realize it. They'll simply make him think everything is his idea.

I'm so disgusted, I can't even talk about it any more.
I like Bernie. If he were the Democratic candidate, I would vote for him, but only because I think Trump is a walking, talking disaster. Let's face it, I would never vote for any Republican, but I would vote. It's not only a privilege, it's a duty, and I wish more people felt that way.

But, I think Bernie has been disingenuous with his young followers. It's all well and good to want to provide young people with debt-free college educations, but he can't accomplish it without raising taxes, and even if he could make it happen, it wouldn't cover everything, as he seems to suggest.

He should have explained from the beginning that those free college educations would only cover tuition for the public colleges and universities. No point hoping to go to Ivy League Colleges for free. They're all private colleges. And, again, those same students' parents would be paying higher taxes, along with the rest of us. Those young people need to understand that there is simply no free lunch.

Same with health care. I would love to see single-payer coverage for everyone. It should happen, should have happened decades ago. But, life is made up of choices, and we, as a country, made the choice to have the biggest, most expensive fighting force in the world, and that did it for health care. Bernie can't possibly bring a change in health care for the better without convincing the Department of Defense, the Senate and the Congress that we simply don't need our armed forces in every single country in the world. I don't see that happening, do you?

I have no problem with Bernie Sanders keeping his campaign going until the last primary is over. And, I have no problem with him making a big, prime-time speech. And, I think consideration should be given to some of his ideas about the platform. He is absolutely right when he says the process of voting need to be changed. But, he probably wouldn't agree with me on the specifics, though. For instance, I think we should do away with caucuses, among other things. More on that subject in a later Blog, maybe.

Here's where I have a problem with Bernie at this point in the campaign. He has been in office for decades, as a Socialist who has been allowed to caucus with the Democrats. He has been on the receiving end of the Democrats' "largess," in that they have supported him in his many campaigns, and, in many instances, he has received funds from Democrats. And, in all the years, he has never once returned the favor, and has never gotten any meaningful legislation passed. He has never bothered to campaign for any other candidates, and is doing precious little for down-ticket candidates even now.

Now, all of a sudden, he has decided to try to turn the Democratic Party on its ear, and he doesn't seem to care if he destroys the very hand that has fed him, so to speak.

I just fee that it is time for him to get behind the inevitable candidate, Hillary Clinton, and other Democrats and get real with his followers and encourage them to do the same.

Stay tuned.

I know, I know, I haven't posted in forever. And, I thought this election season would be so much fun. Not so, at least so far. I usually have a great time making fun of the Republican candidates, but, this year, I'm just too appalled by them. Suffice it to say it appears, at least at this early date, that Trump is set to whine about not being treated fairly, and hurl insults at everyone, including his own followers and, in the end, become the candidate. But, it's just not fun, so I'm going to talk about Hillary and Bernie.

First, I don't know why she wants to put herself through all the criticism and lies that are being thrown at her, not only by the Republicans, but especially women. Why on earth would the likes of Susan Sarandon want to say all the awful thing she is saying about Hillary? What is it about Bernie Sanders that would appeal to her? What she is saying borders on the personal.

Hillary has been criticized for one thing or another since Bill was Governor of Arkansas. Back then, men, who seemed to hold all the state offices gave her no respect at all. They thought of her as an "uppity woman" and she just seemed amused by them, especially when all they seemed to find to criticize her about was her hairdo. Barbara Pryor got some of that treatment, too, every time she changed her look. I guess they expected Hillary and Barbara to keep the same hairdos decade after decade. If it was good enough for Mamie Eisenhower, it should have been good enough for them.

The more Hillary proved herself to be smart and competent, and kept on working as a lawyer, the more scandalized people in Arkansas became. But, she didn't go to law school for all those years just to sit in the Governor's Mansion and think of ways to redecorate. She was criticized for continuing to work after Chelsea was born, although she proved to be a very good and attentive mother. And, look at Chelsea, now.

What I really can't understand is the young voters all flocking after Bernie Sanders. His promised are all just pie in the sky, and none of his ideas will ever get past a Republican House and Senate, even assuming he is electable. All I can figure out is he is such a lovable old guy, and reminds the young people of their grandpas, or the grandpas they wish they had.

It looks as though he will win the New Hampshire primary, which is happening as I type this. But, we'll see what happens across the southern tier and out west. I don't think he can win because all those young people he is courting will be back in school and most of them won't bother to show up for the general election. They never do.

I do have a prediction for you. If Hillary loses, I'll bet it'll be because the women abandoned her this time around, and the Republicans will have been successful in their efforts to convince voters that she can't be trusted, which is absurd. You heard it here.

Why is anyone surprised that Trump is so far ahead of the other Republicans in the polls? The idiots who make up the National Media, on all of the networks, seems astonished, even though every last one of them is enabling him every minute of every day. And, which network has made more mention of him than any of the others? Right. MSNBC.

One theory is that the pundits on MSNBC want the campaign to come down to Trump vs Hillary, so they are reporting every horrible thing he says, so people will realize that they can't have him as our President.

I don't agree. I think Trump has been such a media darling for so many years, the network folks have completely lost sight of what they are actually doing. Either that, or they really want to get him elected, just because President Trump would be endlessly entertaining. Nothing boring to report with a Trump presidency.

But I can think of two very compelling reasons why we can't let the Republicans take over all three branches of our government. The first is the number of Federal judgeships that the Republicans have been stonewalling while Obama has been President. The second is that, in all probability, there will be at least two openings on the Supreme Court during the next eight years.

The Republicans can do great harm in this country, without any checks and balances to keep them honest. You can see how bad things have been with both the House and the Senate in Republican hands. Think what they'll be able to do without fear of a Presidential Veto? Good-bye Social Security, good-bye Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare, for starters. And, so much more.

It just doesn't bear contemplating.

Stay tuned.

I read an article today that said people of Kentucky are in a panic because their newly elected Governor wants to do away with their wildly successful state healthcare program. Well, waaaaaaaah for them. Why did they elect him, anyway?

He proudly proclaimed that he would do just that in every one of his campaign speeches. He couldn't have been clearer. But, they elected him, and now they're bitching and moaning because, SURPRISE! he was telling the truth about his intentions.

I would love to think that he only won because his Democratic opponent didn't offer him any competition, or he won because nobody voted except the Tea Party.

But, I really think he won because voters seem exceptionally stupid in recent years. I could weep.

Ignoring the fact that political debates are never really debates, if you'll excuse my French, I'd like to talk about the cluster-f***k that is this year's lineup for the Republican Primary debates.

The candidates don't like the way they have been treated so far. Waaaaah! The media hasn't been fair, asking those pesky questions and expecting a serious answer. It's the "liberal media's fault they have resorted to ignoring the questions and started attacking their fellow candidates, something that will have Ronald Reagan spinning in his grave. He was the guy who intoned, "Thou shalt not criticize fellow Republicans." Snrrrrk!

So, they had a meeting last Sunday night to decide what should be done. The only member of the RNC who was permitted to attend was Rrrrrrrrreince Prrrrrrriebus ( with the unpronounceable, and unspellable name), who tried to calm them down by kicking a fellow Committee member to the curb. Apparently, that didn't work.

The upshot of the meeting was, apparently, they don't want the media or the networks to be involved in any more debates. Someone suggested that they sponsor the debates themselves, and get Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and some guy I never heard of before, who has one of those wacko talk radio shows, to be the moderators. Sounds good to me. Let's run with it.

Someone else suggested the debates be conducted on Facebook or Twitter (140 characters at a time?). Maybe a You Tube video would be better.

I have an idea. Let's not have any Primary debates on television or on the internets. Let the candidates hit the road and get votes the old fashioned way - by talking to people face to face. Let them conduct town hall debates, with all 15 candidates forming a caravan of buses, and traveling from town to town, state to state. It wouldn't take long for them to start dropping like flies, either from boredom or lack of stamina. Last two left standing can flip a coin and decide who will be the candidates for President and Vice President.

The big winner gets to debate Hillary. What fun!

Stay tuned.
To borrow a quote from "Opus," I am "appalled, with two p's" at the state of politics in this country. I thought I could have some fun with the Republican candidates, as I usually do, but, there doesn't seem to be anything amusing about them, either on the state or the federal level.

I hoped I could revive my blog during the coming campaign, but, I simply can't find the words to describe how disgusted I am. What I find really scary is the realization that so many of those clowns managed to get elected.

Folks, there is something evil in this country, and it's more evident and widespread than it has ever been. Where has all this anger, hatred and mean spiritedness come from? And the blatant racism that isn't just limited to the South, where you would, maybe, expect to find it.

Don't get me started on that farce they called a "Benghazi hearing." I'll save that for another time.

Here in Arkansas, the extremists have taken over the entire state government, and it is going to be disastrous for us, just as it has been in, for instance, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

On the National level, the extremists have such a choke hold on the House of Representatives, that it is obvious they don't want to do good, and improve the lives of their constituents. They say they want smaller government. In my opinion, what they really want is to bring down the government. What they would replace it with, I don't know, although, a goodly number of them would like to establish a Theocracy. Others just want Anarchy, and many of them hide behind religion for their own ends.

It may be a little too early to predict, but at this point, it appears that Jeb! is done for, despite all the money he has raised and spent, which must be a giant disappointment to his super pacs. The fact that he has had to "downsize" his campaign is not a good sign. I suspect he is just like his brother and father, in that he doesn't have "that vision thing" that his father talked about. It was pretty obvious that the the only belief system the previous two Bushes had was that they believed they wanted to be President. At one time, Jeb! may have though it would be a cakewalk to the White House, but the way he has been conducting his campaign makes me believe he really doesn't want to be President badly enough to work for it. So much for Jeb!

At last, Donald Trump is beginning to fade, allowing Ben Carson to enjoy his own fifteen minutes of fame. Trump has always been a blowhard, and not really to be taken seriously. But, does anyone besides me detect a lot of anger emanating from Ben Carson, no matter how mild mannered he claims to be?

Thank goodness Carly Fiorina has faded fast, even though I think many Republicans were intent on propping her up and some of them may have even entertained the notion that she would make a good V.P. candidate, so she could be their attack<strike> bitch </strike>dog throughout the campaign. That probably won't happen, now, but I guess anything is possible with that bunch.

At the moment, I am betting on Marco Rubio, unless Jeb! decides to try to do him in out of spite.

One thing is beginning to be pretty obvious. The Republican Party had better quit wallowing in the mud with the "great unwashed" and start trying to come up with candidates who have some integrity. All the extremists need to go back under their rocks and elect some worthy people who sincerely want to govern.

Stay tuned.
Every single day, I get a robo-call from a group called "Cardmember Services". They assure me they can lower the interest rate on all my credit cards. I only have one credit card, thank you very much, and the interest rate doesn't bother me very much because I pay the card off every month.

For a while, I was getting TWO calls from the same annoying outfit. One started with "This is a very important message about your credit cards." And the other was more personal. It went, "This is Bridget from Cardmember Services." She promised to lower the interest rate on my credit cards, too.

I e-mailed the FCC and complained, and they replied that all they could do was add my complaint to all the others they are getting. They went on to say that my telephone company COULD do something about it if they only would. But, apparently, Cox doesn't want to be bothered.

There has to be some way to stop these calls. In the meantime, I have decided to let the calls go to a real person so I can tell her (usually a female) that I want the calls to stop. Oh, I know it won't do any good. They just cut me off. But, why shoudn't I annoy them right back, right?

I suggest that anyone else who gets these calls do the same. It's actually quite satisfying, even if it is an exercise in futility.

Stay tuned.

I try, I really do, to watch the Republican debates. Otherwise, how will I be able to make fun of them, but I have to tell you, I find them less than compelling. Actually, I have the same problem with the Democrats, but at least I agree with them most of the time. Every time the Presidential elections roll around, I think, "OK, this year, I'm going to suffer through the debates and every time, I come away realizing that the candidates haven't said anything of substance. It's just carp, carp, carp about the other party, and no real information.

The only difference between the two is when the Republicans say what they're going to do, you know they have no intention of doing anything. It's just blah, blah, blah, Hillary, blah, blah, blah, Benghazi, blah, blah, blah, e-mails, blah, blah, blah, private server, for shame! In the end, it's always much ado about nothing, because, you know what? In the end, Hillary will be proven "innocent" of all the accusations and tsk-tsk-ing.

So, once again, I tried to watch the Republican debate on CNN. I lasted about 45 minutes, which is the outer limit of my patience with fools.

According to Jim Hightower, Donald Trump is a figment of his own imagination. I say he's a legend in his own mind. But, usually, he is worth a few giggles. But, last night, he seemed kind of flat. Maybe he was on his version of good behavior, but he wasn't his usual entertaining self. Maybe, he just didn't think the other candidates were much competition for him.

Carly Fiorina, who has never succeeded at anything she has tried in her adult life, constantly tried to interrupt everyone. Someone finally called her on it, and I thought, "HA! Take that, bitch!" and stuck out my tongue, which wasn't very grown-up of me, but then, there weren't any real grown-ups in that crowd. I found her speaking style annoying. She's going to have to do something about her ssssss's.

Marco Rubio, full of boyish charm, tried his hand at humor, making a joke about the drought and how he brought his own water, yuk, yuk. It went over like a lead balloon.

At one point, they let Mike Huckabee loose with his "war on Christians" spiel. But, after that, they pretty much ignored him. He'll drop out early in the game, but not before Iowa and New Hampshire, because he's not through crusading, yet. Maybe he hasn't collected enough money to get him through the next few years. That house has to be expensive to maintain.

Rand Paul managed to sound sensible a time or two, or maybe it was just in comparison to the rest of the clowns. Maybe when you know you have no chance of winning, you can feel free to say what you really think.

Jeb! thinks Margaret Thatcher should be the woman on our ten-dollar bill. Hey, Jeb! I kind of think the first woman to appear on our currency should be an American. But, that's just me. He made a bit of a fool of himself by insisting that Donald Trump apologize to his wife for the things he has said about Mexican immigrants. As if THAT was gonna happen.

I can't talk any more about the debate, because I changed the channel before my head exploded.

I only have one more thing to say about the debates, all of them. I don't think the networks should be sponsoring them. It may not be a conflict of interest, but I have a problem with the ethics of the networks inserting themselves into the mix. I think the media should step back and observe and report. Sponsoring the debates and participating in them puts them too close. So there.

Stay tuned.
People like that ignorant little Clerk in Kentucky just irritate me no end. And, the people who are taking up for her ought to be ashamed of themselves, because they know better.

Her lawyers and the Religious Rights group that are encouraging her in her case have her convinced that she is above the law. And, they have told her that the governor of the State of Kentucky should defy the Supreme Court and allow her to continue in her job and deny the rights of gays because she disapproves of their lifestyle on her skewed religious beliefs. .

I's astonishing how many people actually believe the states can somehow overrule the Federal Government and the U.S. Supreme Court, just because they disagree with the rulings handed down, according to their so-called religious beliefs.

Here's a woman who only got religion about two years ago, after a lifetime of slutting around, two children out of wedlock and four marriages. How would she have felt if some County Clerk had told her she couldn't have had second marriage license because their religion taught them that marriage is for life, and anything past the first marriage is adultery, or something equally silly? She would have squealed like a stuck pig and tried to find a lawyer to force that clerk to do his/her job. That's what. At least, at that point, she would be on the right side of the law.

And,don't get me started on the very UN-reverend Mike Huckabee. Here's a man who wants to be President of the United States, saying his religion makes him above the law. He'd be perfectly happy to reign over a Theocracy. That man, and people like him, are dangerous.

The rest of the Republicans who are either supporting (albeit weakly) Kim Davis in her "cause" are just as bad. In this, and other issues, the Republicans are appealing to the lowest common denominator in this country. They had better be careful what they wish for.

Stay tuned.
I really, really, really want to live to see a woman become President of the United States. But, as I have said before, I'm not sure Hillary! is the one.

It's not that I don't think she's qualified. I do. I think she is far more qualified than any of the Republican clowns who are running. And, she has done a great job as Secretary of State. There's no doubt she works hard at whatever endeavor she chooses.

But, when I think of having to endure another year watching the Republicans unjustly accusing her of everything under the sun, I don't think I can stand it. And, then, when she wins, we'll have to listen to the constant carping for the next four or eight years. We've had enough of that with President Obama. Of course, most of it with him was pure racism, but with Hillary! it's going to be Benghazi, which didn't amount to any wrong-doing on her part, and failing that, there will be those silly e-mails, which won't amount to a hill of beans, and failing that, they'll start in on the Clinton Foundation and bring up all of Bill's short-comings,blah, blah, blah. And, if all that fails, they can attack her for simply being a woman. And, don't think the Republicans are above that.

Are we really ready? Things would be so much easier with "Uncle" Joe or maybe we should "feel the Bern." Let's face it, they are much more likeable and full of good humor. Bless her heart, Hillary! is just deadly serious and she comes across as not very likeable, no matter how many times her close friends assure us that she is a warm, even funny, lady.

Well, I'll vote for whichever Democrat is nominated. But, I'd sure love to have four or eight years of relative calm.
He's supposed to be the smart one in the family, but he is sounding more and more like his brother George W. and his father George H.W. The ability to open mouth and insert foot appears to run in the family.
The title has often been used to describe me, and as I get older it becomes a more and more accurate description. It's not that I don't WANT to blog, it's just that I can't seem to organize my thoughts into a post that makes sense. But, I'm going to try, once again, because I am opinionated and because my kids are tired of listening to me bitch. So, if there's still someone out there who wants to read it, I'm back. Who knows for how long? With election season coming on strong, I should have plenty to say, if I can just keep it together enough to be coherent.

Donal Trump. What can I say? He's the media's darling right now, and if they try hard enough, they can probably make him the candidate. And, boy howdy, do the Republicans deserve it! It has been observed that one of the reasons he is so far ahead in the polls at this point is because there are so many other candidates even crazier than he is. Personally, I think 1.) the serious voters are not yet paying attention and 2.) the ones who are engaging want desperately to "send a message" that they're tire of the same old retreads running for office. The only problem with that is, if they are sending that message, they're going to have to back it up by either not voting at all or voting for the guy they think is an "outsider" and this time around, it's Trump. It doesn't make a a lot of sense to complain about a candidate and then turn around and vote for him/her.

Hillary Clinton. Oh, dear. Here we go again. I really would like to see a woman elected President during my lifetime. I'm just not sure she's the one. Just thinking about all the abuse she's going to have to take, and we are going to have to listen to, for the next year makes me feel sick. She will have to endure all the baggage from her husband's "scandals", and she will have "scandals" of her own with which to contend.

Benghazi hasn't worked out very well for the opposing party, but I'll bet we'll have to live through it again before it's all over. Right now, they're busily trumping up (no pun intended) accusations about her e-mails from her private server while she was Secretary of State. Good grief, people! Get a life! It's not as though other people in government have never had their own servers. And, it's not as though the Government servers are particularly secure. The point is they haven't found any classified material in the e-mails they have already picked apart, and I'm guessing, chances are they won't. Something that is classified now, but wasn't back then doesn't count. They can't very well nail her retroactively. Now we know why Romney took all of his hard drives out back and destroyed them.

I'm going to get around to the other candidates pretty soon, I hope, but right now, I'll just ask: Is anybody feeling the Bern?

Stay tuned.

Happy days are here again, at least for top government officials. The Legislature, with the enthusiastic approval of the Governor, voted for pay raises for themselves, and all the judges, including the supreme court.

1. The Governor goes from $70,132 to $130,000 per year - 64% raise.

2. Lt. Governor - no raise. I guess that means they intend to do away with the job.

3. Atty Gen.- from $73,132 to $130,000 - 77% raise

4. Sec'y of State - from $54,848 t $90,000 - 64% raise

5. Land Commissioner, Auditor and Treasurer, each from $54,848 to $85,000 - 55% each

6. District Judges - from $125,950 to $140,000 - 11% raise

7. Circuit Judges - from $140,000 to $160,000 - 14% raise

8. Court of Appeals - from $144,082 to $161,800 - 11% raise

9. Chief Judge, Court of Appeals - from $147,286 to $164,000 - 11% raise

10. Justices, Supreme Ct. - $149,589 to $166,500 - 11% raise

11. Chief Justice, Supreme Court - $164,601 to $180,000 - 11 % raise.

12. Legislature - $15,869 to $39,400 - 145% raise. Supposedly, this will do away with $14,000 expense accounts as a pay supplement in the form of monthly payments to spouses' LLC's. Huh? So far, two of the Legislatures are whining that the raises aren't large enough.

They are also gutting the recently passed "Ethics Bill" which bans various gifts from lobbyists, including paying for lunches.

More good news to come.

Stay tuned.

Feb. 2 - The first, but not last, abortion bill of this legislative session seeks to ban a procedure no currently offered in Arkansas. (A pre-emptive strike, perhaps?): drug induced abortions by telemedicine. This is where a doctor consults with a patient by video and may or may not provide a prescription.
There is a bill to make schools teach cursive, which I actually support, but not for the reasons the Lege wants it. Common Core doesn't think cursive is necessary. The Lege doesn't think common core is necessary, and they will be chipping away at it every chance they get.
The Governor has signed a bill to take effect immediately, abolishing the 9-member Lottery Commission and putting the State in control, through the Department of Finance and Administration. Admittedly, something needed to be done about the Lottery. It was poorly thought out and set up by administrators "from off", who were grossly overpaid, and the Lottery has been steadily losing ground.

Maybe it would be better if they sold actual lottery TICKETS, instead of hedging their bets by requiring the purchase of $5 or more scratch-offs before qualifying for the big money. Just a suggestion.

But, turning it over to the State? Well. No chance for corruption there, right?
Oh, yes, there was a bill allowing college staff to carry guns on campus. The bill failed once, but it's ba-a-a-ck. It'll pass before long. It's inevitable.

Stay tuned.
