Keeping Up With The Cat Fights

There's nothing more fun than a good cat fight. And, there have been some notable ones over the years.

The latest ones erupted this week. Etta James was offended by Beyonce's performance at the Inaugural Balls. She said, " Beyonce has no business..........singing my song, that I've been singing forever."

I kind of understand her sense of ownership of that song, but Beyonce sure sounded good singing it.

Faye Dunaway had a few harsh words to say about Hilary Duff, who is taking on the iconic role of Bonnie Parker in a remake of "The Story of Bonnie and Clyde". She asked, "Couldn't they at least cast a real actor?

Hilary Duff replied, " I think it was a little unnecessary, but I might be mad if I looked like that now, too."

And, there have been others in recent years. Paris Hilton is always hissing and spitting at her former best friends, notably, Mischa Barton and Nicole Ritchie. Heather Locklear dissed Denise Richards over Richie Sambora and she also got into it with Hilary Duff.

But, none of them measure up to the cat fights of the good old days, when people knew how to deliver zingers with flair.

Dorothy Parker said about Kate Hepburn, "She ran the whole gamut of emotions from A to B. Zing!

Barbara Stanwyck on Marilyn Monroe: " Her body has gone to her head." Ouch!

Bette Davis vs Joan Crawford: "Joan always cries a lot. Her tear ducts must be close to her bladder." Pow!

And, Kate Hepburn said about Sharon Stone, " It's a new low for actresses when you have to wonder what's between her ears instead of her legs. Zingarooni!

Come on, people! Show some imagination in your feuds!

Waiting for the next round.

I kind of wondered about that Etta James thing... because I saw her in concert last year and she had to sit through the whole thing. It made me think that despite the fact that she is still a hell of a singer she may not have been in any kind of shape to make the inauguration.

Great bunch of zingers. Gotta admire the wit of a good one, hopefully from a distance.
Am not quick witted enough for participating in a good cat fight myself.
As for Etta and Faye, buck up girls,
those darn whippersnappers will replace us all eventually.

Time marches on Etta. I think I read that maybe her medication had something to do with those unfortunate remarks she made about Beyonce. I hope she has some excuse because she's going to need some justification for sounding so ugly. I thought Beyonce was wonderful...and gracious.

As for those zingers....now THAT was some good 'stuff.' Kate Hepburn is a gem.

Etta James has a nerve saying that Beyonce shouldn't sing HER sing.

At Last was written for the film "Orchestra Wives" in 1941. It was played by the Glenn Miller Orchestra and was sung in the film by Ray Eberle and Pat Friday.

Etta James did not record the song until 1960, and in between it had been sung by every singer you could possibly name including Doris Day and Nat King Cole.....

Loved the Zingers. Remember Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons? They were both terrific at caustic remarks. I miss the old day.....

I had a semi cat figh with another mum at the school today... of course it was not in front of my kids, they were in school already. I dropped them into school, went to walk back home across the school safety crossing and a mum had parked her car ACROSS the crossing!! I told her off, calmly and with a steady voice. She just said "SO WHAT!" So, I took a picture of her car and her number plates to show the local council.
So, that was my cat fight!
