Wordzzle
I haven't done one of these in a few weeks because my brain was on vacation, and, as you will soon see, all of it didn't come back. Anyway, go to Raven's website, if you want to read all the other efforts.
The 10 words (actually, only 9 this week):
perpendicular
carpentry
garage
lute player
radishes
tin roof
wild flowers
stop light
gargantuan
The 5 words:
gravy boat
cat carrier
Madison, Wisconsin
March hare
gratitude
So, I decided to try putting them all together in the same little story.
Once upon a time, there was a man in Madison, Wisconsin, who practiced his carpentry with the precision of a lute player. You could tell he was a perfectionist by looking at his garden, with its perpendicular rows of wild flowers and radishes and other vegetables, which he watered with a gravy boat.
One day, he decided to take on the gargantuan task of building a new garage, with a tin roof. He was hurrying to the hardware store for more supplies, and blew through a stop light like a March hare and, luckily, received only a warning from the town constable. He expressed his gratitude by offering to build something for the constable. The constable thought for a moment, and said his wife wanted a cat carrier. So, the carpenter built the most ornate cat carrier he could design, and the constable and his wife loved it.
They all lived happily ever after, except for the cat.

Good to have you back! I didn't even notice that I had only 9 words... talk about brains going on vacation! Anyway, excellent job as always. I'm thinking about the task of carrying an ornate wooden cat carrier with howling cat inside. I'm sure the girls would love it, though.
Great story. I love the watering the garden with the gravy boat! ;-)
Peace
Isn't that really what gravy boats are good for? I mean, most people spend more time watering their plants that pouring gravy, I hope.

Great story Betty.
Bravo--great job.
I doubt very much whether I could ever write something like that.
LOL great story Betty! :)
I'm so glad you're back. I love your stories and this one is no exception!
raven: Glad to be back. Thanks.
Odat. Thank you. I read your Wrdzzle, too, and commented.
richard: I had to think pretty hard about what to do with that gravy boat. lol
bear naked: Sure you can. Just let your mind go on vacation for a couple of weeks, and it'll come back doing all sorts of weird things.
akelamalu: Thanks.
dianne: It's good to be back and at least, partially in my right mind. lol
Ha, that was fun. I like the gravy boat watering can.
I love it! Betty, ever since I saw Wordzzle challenges mentioned on Jay's blog, I'm hooked on reading 'em to see how you guys fair. Well done.
jeff b and james b: Thanks for coming by. Join us with an entry next Saturday, why don't you? It's a lot of fun trying to find some way to use all the words.
