The Racketeer by John Grisham

Federal Judge Raymond Fawcett has been killed at his vacation cabin. There is no evidence of a struggle or forced entry.   The only things found were two dead bodies and a large state of the art safe.

However, there is one person who knows who the killer is. He is the Racketeer, a former attorney, who presently  resides in a Federal Prison Camp.  He manages to make a deal with the authorities whereby he will spill the beans in return for a sum of money, his freedom, and a place in the Federal Witness Protection Program.

I have read almost all of John Grisham's books, and this one has the most convoluted plot I've encountered in any of his past offerings.  All the twists and turns require concentration, and I managed to figure out who dunnit, anyway.  Just dumb luck, probably.

I always enjoy Grisham's books and this one was no exception.  I lie.  There was one exception.  The man simply doesn't know how to end a book.  Instead of neatly wrapping things up, he just stops typing.  This can be disconcerting.

Stay tuned.

I enjoy Grisham too, Betty. Right now I don't have time to read his latest book. Wait until I get moved.

I have not read much Grisham, but I have heard good things about this book. I usually don't get around to new releases until they are quite old.

Betty, I will ask my library to put my name on this one. I like his books too...plus he is one of our own!
