Early Christmas

We spent the week of Thanksgiving in Omaha, Nebraska with Kelley, Allen and the grandpuppies.
It has become a tradition in our family to get together at Thanksgiving because the weather is usually iffy at Christmas.  It was our plan to finish our Christmas shopping that week, wrap the presents, and leave them there so we could avoid shipping costs.

Kelley and Allen had given us a 40" TV, which we loaded into the car for the trip home.  They also told us that they wanted to give us a TV stand, which we were to pick out and order, and they would reimburse us.

So, on the way home, I kept thinking about what generous gifts the TV and stand were, and started feeling like Scrooge, and by the time I got home, I had decided to order just a few more things for them. I did my shopping at Amazon.com and had them shipped to my address, even though Amazon would have wrapped and shipped them.  Have you seen the Amazon "gift wrap?"  It's a rather bilious green.  No ribbons. No bows.  Ugh.

Anyway, it's going to be a Holly Jolly Christmas for the Adams and Patton families this year.  I hope it will be so for all of you, too.

Stay tuned.

I love the tv. Think of all the Christmas times you have been generous to Kelley! It would have been fine and I don't think you should have felt like Scrooge!

At our age, and childless, we buy own Christmas, and give time, money and what energy 70 yr. olds have, to various charitable projects, especially those associated with our church.

Very close friends we invite to dinner at a very special restaurant. We have done three of these dinners so far this year. Friendship and fellowship are much more spontaneous and appreciated at this age.

We put out minimum decorattions indoor and outdoor. We are thankful to have made another Christma.

I put up my artificial tree and put an artificial wreath on the door. I try to invite people who are alone, to dinner on Christmas Eve or Christmas night. But, they usually prefer to stay at home.
