I used to love the Grammys. But, things started going downhill the year the Red Hot Chili Peppers (only two shown here)appeared. Host Gary Shandling did a double-take and said, "Don't look, Mother!" Music just hasn't been the same since.
I suppose it says something about my age that the only people on the show I identified with were Kris Kristofferson, Barbra Streisand and The Rooster on Acid, Mick Jagger. Now, THOSE people were TALENTED!

Really weird costumes. I have never watched the Grammys and certainly am not about to start after seeing those pictures.
I'm with you! We don't watch the grammys anymore. We don't care for any of the new music that is around. Playing for Change is the only new music we listen to or pay attention to anymore.
We listen to our cds of the 40's,50's & 60's, anything done by the Beatles together & apart, reggae and our all time favorite, classical.
I loved what you called Mick, it made me hoot with laughter :)
Music is NOT good like it used to be. But, I bet my dad would say the same thing about what I listen to except for the classical :)
I don't like the new artisits either -- lots of hype, little talent.

Now I get it. At first I thought "Rooster on Acid" was a band I hadn't heard of. That is quite funny.
I fear todays performers have passed me by. No interest.
I don't watch them anymore either. The "artists" of today just have no talent...only noise...not music. And their costumes are simply stupid.
Don't those women and men know that when they are in their old age, those tattoos will just make them look pitiful?
TV and music is just being ruined with these characters. How I long for real entertainment!
Talk about feeling old. I did not even recognize any of those performers. Except for the Red Hot Chili Peppers - at least the name - cause my daughter listened to them as a teen. That was 20 years ago. OMG, I AM old.
I wonder what her kids will listn to in ten years or so. I am positive that it will have her shaking her head and wondering why there just isn't talent like the RHCPeppers anymore.
I don't watch the Grammys either, Betty, as most of these current performers seem to live on a different planet than me and most all of their music sounds the same, just noise to my ears. That being said, your comments reminded me of a memory from long ago when as a youngster, during a parade in the city, my mom didn't want me to see or hear the two featured floats with singers performing live on them. She was afraid they'd be a bad influence on me. The performers? Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Hello Betty, I'm dropping by from Linda's blog. I just saw something in the Honolulu Star Advertiser that the Hawaiian musicians were upset about the winners in their category. I'm sure they have legitimate grounds for their disenchantment with the Grammys. I love the photos you posted. I didn't watch the Grammys and this was fun to see.
Mike Jagger still looks the same as he did in the 60's ... bloody old !
Don't watch Grammys or any similar award program for the very reasons you just depicted. My time can be spent on better subjects that a bunch or narcissistic individuals.
Watching the Grammy's is getting harder and harder every year; but I still love to see the performances....most of them. There were some great moments in the broadcast. One of my favorites was at the beginning when Yolando Adams, Martina McBride, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera and Florence Welch paid tribute to Aretha Franklin...WOW, they were amazing; strong and powerful voices every one of them. Some performers weren't 'my cup of tea,' but many were cool...and I have a very eclectic taste when it comes to music. I could do without some of the outrageous get-ups people wore though...but that's the Grammy's for you. ~Joy
