Now, the city fathers in Springfield, MO have agreed to allow people to have chickens in their yards. What is WITH this chicken business? Is it the latest version of "A chicken in every pot?" You can have chickens, but no roosters. That's a relief. I'm sure no-one wants to be awakened at the crack of dawn by the crowing of a rooster. A chick-chick here, a chick-chick there.........
What's next? Maybe everyone would like to have fresh milk, so let's all get a cow. But, does a cow have to have a calf before it will give milk? A calf might be too much trouble, although it would be mighty cute. An would we need a bull, too? With a moo-moo here and a moo-moo there........
And, oh yes, I'd like to make cheese from goat's milk. Could I have a couple of goats? Does a goat have to have kids before it can give milk? Maa-maa here, etc.
Really, if I wanted to live on a farm, I would have moved to the country.
Stay tuned.

Haha goats save you from having to mow the lawn, or from hiring a mower guy to mow the lawn... ha.. who am I "Kid"-ding.. haha
LOL Brilliant!!!!!
This is the best and has been my best laugh tonight. You are too funny.
Would you do the onik onik for me? That would be awesome - Thanks
Living in the countryside, let me tell ya'--rooster do not just crow at dawn!
I've written on this subject several times. In Portland, OR, where I live, they've even had a tour of chicken homes like they have tours of people homes. It's quite the rage here to have chickens in your back yard. I guess those folks don't entertain in their back yard, or perhaps they play "Dodge the chicken shit" with their guest.
This has been a subject of 3 council meetings here in our little tiny town.2 council persons worried about attracting skunks, and smell.. two council persons don't care and think chickens are cool.. long and short of it... they can have up to 6 chickens. But it is on a service saying... don't ask, don't tell, and if no one complains, you get to keep them... so far so good... no one knows where the chickens are living...
You area a hoot, Betty. I think it would all lead to a stink, stink here and a smell, smell there.
I actually heard of a person who had goats with city license to "mow" lawns. I kinda wonder about the clean up of natural deposition, but then cheap fertilizer is hard to find.
This person made a right good living and was the only person licensed to have a farm animal in the city.
Now if a few chickens came by and depositeda few eggs, my breakfast would be cheaper.
