The Late Dr. C.

I went to the Dr's office Monday to get my lab results. My appointment was for 8:30 and I finally got in to his examining room at 9:30. And, he wonders why I don't like to go to the doctor. The first thing he noticed was the humongous bruise on my hand that I whined about in my last post. I wasn't going to mention it, but when he asked me what happened, I had to tell him I got it in his lab. He said it would probably take two to three weeks to go away, and added that there were probably better places to find a good vein.

Anyhoo, as I mentioned in an earlier post, my blood sugar was averaging so low that he took me off of one of my Diabetes meds, the most expensive one. That was the good news. The bad news was he wanted me to come back every three months for a while so he could monitor it.

Monday, he was pleased to tell me that my blood sugar was averaging in the normal range, even without the expensive medication. Woo-Hoo! The downside, again, is that I have to continue to go and see him every three months.

I decided I didn't want to go on a Monday any more, and certainly not at 8:30, so I made my next appointment for a Thursday at 10:00. I don't actually think I'll get in to see him any faster. I am nothing if not a realist. But, at least I don't have to get up at some ungodly hour in order to sit on those uncomfortable chairs for an hour or more.

I shouldn't complain, except that I like to, because the reason he runs late is that he is happy to sit there an answer all the questions you have, and even chats a little bit with his patients. That's what I like about him, along with the fact that he's a real cutie-patootie, so I'll shut up and try to be a more patient patient.

While I was in the waiting room, I was watching their television, which was showing CNN. They were talking about Lindsay Lohan's first day in jail. A woman sitting across from me was talking about how it was about time Lindsey went to jail because "she had been flaunting herself in front of the police and other authorities for a long time, now." Then, she said, "I'll tell you one thing. If they put Lindsey in a room with my mama for about fifteen minutes, Mama would straighten her out!"

I love to listen to other peoples' conversations.

In other news, I was reading the local paper this morning and was surprised that the front page contained two stories about local crime. There was a double murder in a town a few miles north of us. They have a suspect in custody. I don't know who the victims were, or who the alleged perp is, because they haven't released names yet. But, it seems we're having a lot of murders in our area lately.

Also, there was a standoff in a parking lot of a business here in town. Seems some guy from Branson took a leak in the parking lot and someone witnessed it and called the cops. He pulled a gun when the cops came that turned out to be a BB gun, and the cops shot him with bean bag bullets, that didn't kill him, but did make him drop his gun. The guy was drunk. No surprise there.

Just proves the old saying, "When you gotta go, you gotta go."

Stay tuned.

I started out wondering why you didn't look for another doctor, but then you explained it.
Other people's conversations can get me thinking--mostly about being careful about what I choose to spout off about in public.

I always take along a book when I go to the doctor's office. Not only does it help me pass the waiting time, it keeps my hands off their germy magazines.

I try to stay away from docs as much as possible. Plus I don't trust the doctors here in colorado springs. I am not looking forward to the day when I no longer can avoid them. At least your doc is a cutie :)

I go at 1 pm if I can -- it's right after lunch and they aren't as busy. Why everyone thinks one has to go to the doc in the AM, I'll never know. I'm allergic to mornings.

Olga: I really like my doctor. He's a peach!

Velvet Sacks: I need to take a book, too, but I keep forgetting, and when I remember the book, I forget my reading glasses. Sigh.

Looking to the Stars: Doctors will make you sick, if you let them.

Kay: 1:00 p.m. is a good idea. Or, the last appointment before lunch.
I can't avoid going to the lab in the mornings, early, because I have to be fasting.

If you have to go in the morning, how about his very first appointment?
He sounds like he is worth the wait though.
I noticed on the morning news from your town today that the murders really seem to be up. Time to move to the country.

Arkansas Patti: I thought I WAS the first appointment. lol

I have always been under the impression that I was already living in the country. Guess not.

If you read my blog on losing my wonderful doctor you might be wary. The 'sweeties' are joining a group called MD VIP and they will charge you $1500 a year up front. I hope your guy doesn't make that transition.
