Debate? What Debate?

Last night’s debate was more like “The George and Charlie Show.” It was perfectly disgusting, the way both moderators lobbed “gotcha” questions, more of them aimed at Barack Obama than at Hillary Clinton. For the first fifty-five minutes, we were treated to a rehash of the latest non-issues.

Note to Media: The opinions of Obama’s retired minister have been done to death. And, who was that ignorant woman you managed to find who asked Obama why he wouldn’t wear a flag pin? Do you really think that wearing a flag pin would make him more patriotic? I am so tired of watching all those ignoramuses wrapping themselves in the flag in order to make others appear to be something less than “real” Americans.

Charlie, on a more personal note, those glasses don’t make you look any more intelligent, perched there on the end of your nose. They just make you look even more smug and self-satisfied.

George, I kind of think it would be a good idea if you came right out and admitted that you are working, whether paid or unpaid, for the Clinton campaign. Your bias is much too obvious, and since you have set yourself up as someone who should be unbiased, you really ought to start every program on which you appear with this admission.

Frankly, after seeing the latest debate, I think the candidates ought to refuse to debate again on ABC and also refuse to allow last night’s moderators to participate in any future debates. In fact, if I ran ABC, I would have called a meeting early this morning, and fired both of them for their disgraceful behavior.

So there.

Katy Couric, who has been crying about not having had a debate to host, might now consider herself lucky!

Re: George - talk about conflict of interest!

Betty you were really too kind in your post today. Come by my place; I have an explanation for what happened.

dogwalkmusings: I think Katie wants to host a debate now, more than ever, I would think. She has a very personal reason for this. She thinks it will rehabilitate her career and save her job. But, she's wrong.

rich: Well, you know, I'm just a kind, compassionate person at heart. Snrk.

I was out last night and missed the debate....apparently I was one of the lucky ones. I have caught a couple of short videos about it, so I'm not totally 'pain-free.' Thanks for your little review...I do a lot less cringing this way.

I just couldn't watch it. I'm so tired of hearing the candidates having to spend all their time apologizing for some word they used that some group might have found offensive but then again might not have if some pundit or reporter hadn't said they should be offended in the first place. Sheesh.

Oh, and I was listening to NPR and they were in some small town somewhere talking about how dems just don't know who they want to vote for. One woman said she was going to vote for Hillary because she didn't like Obama. When asked why not, she said because she had heard he was a Muslim. Jesus Christ! Where the hell have these people been?

Barack and Hill are going to mess around and have us lose the race to McCain..Lord forbid.

The whole thing reminds me of a spoiled kid who always gets what they want and will say anything to get it.

Betty,

I agree with Kell. I couldn't watch it either. I had to turn it off. I got embarrassed for them . And I don't mean Barack and Hillary; I'm talking about George and Charlie....

And don't ask me what I think of ABC.. or what those letters stand for....Always Be Caustic......
Comical? Convoluted? Confounded?
Counter-productive? ......

joy: You didn't miss much.

kell: I'm kind of hoping people will put their heads back in the sand until these primaries are over. They're getting just silly, now.

sister-three: I sure hope you're wrong, but I'm getting thoroughly disgusted.

nancy: Cynical?
