Tidbits

Am I the only one who is getting a big kick out of Eliot Spitzer’s replacement as Governor of New York? Talk about your “full disclosure”. When Governor Patterson confessed that he had had affairs (his wife admitted that she had several affairs, too), he really got on a roll. The next day, he disclosed that he had “tried” wacky-tobaccy. Apparently, his wife won’t try to one-up him on this. Then, today, he admits that he also snorted cocaine. What’s next?

Jay suggests that he might admit that he shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. (Apologies to Johnny Cash)

It’s always nice to have a good laugh in the morning. You know, for a blind guy, he sure gets around.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is in the deep stuff, too. Someone discovered his sexually explicit text messages to an aide, which led to all kinds problems, including charges of perjury and misconduct while in office. The Mayor is being arraigned on multiple felony charges, to which he will plead “not guilty”. Once again, it was the attempted cover-up that tripped him up.

And, Detroit had such high hopes for him.

Hillary made a speech about her 1996 trip to Bosnia the other day. She claimed that she and her party, which included daughter Chelsea, had to dodge sniper fire when they got off the plane. This statement triggered an all-out of the internet, which resulted in a video of that very visit, in which Hillary saunters off the plane and walks over to the welcoming party which included an 8-year-old girl. She shook hands and chatted, with no apparent worries of being taken out by sniper fire. She now says she “misspoke”. She might not have dodged sniper fire that day, but today, she is having to do some fancy footwork to dodge the media.

Note to Hillary: The truth will set you free.

In a letter to the editor in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the writer accuses Barack Obama of being less than candid about his race. He says that Barack mentioned that his grandmother is white, but neglect to mention that his mother is also white. Huh???? The writer goes on to say that Obama shouldn’t refer to himself as a black man, but instead, should call himself a “half-breed”, because he isn’t all black. Then, he goes on to say that “if we can’t trust him to tell the truth about his race, how can we trust him to tell the truth about anything else?”

Wonder what this writer’s political persuasion could be? Hmmmm?

John McCain mad a speech this morning in which he addressed the housing crisis and inadvertently showed his lack of understanding of the economy. He is against bailing out either the banks or the people who secured loans because, “they got themselves into it”. He suggests that the Mortgage Lenders could offer 0% loans, like the auto industry did a few years ago when they were trying to get out of their troubles. Oh, sure, they’re gonna jump at this chance. To solve the problem, he wants to convene a meeting of all the top Accountants and all the top Mortgage Lenders in the country to write some guidelines to avert future trouble.

Yeah. Let’s station a fox outside the chicken house.

More on McCain later. Much, much more.

I love the way you summed this up. It's funny, but it's scary, too. Okay, children, can anyone say "house of cards"?

Tink: Thank you. It was a fun day.

dogwalkmusings: I'm working on a rant about Hillary. Her sucking up to Richard Scaife is just the last straw.

velvet sacks: Just proves how things can go so wrong so quickly.

If Senator Clinton and her daughter had "dodged sniper fire" I'm sure it would have made the news. What was she thinking?

McCain just frightens me.

I can't imagine a blind guy snorting drugs. Oh, well, I guess
his wife helped him find it on the mirror and rolled the 100 dollar bill for him to suck it up with.

All the candidates are getting to the nutty side if you ask me. I think it is because they try to do what some advisor tells them would be right. Say this to get the people's mind off that...duh. They act like most of the voters are stupid...and we are!

peggy: McCain scares me, too.

sister-three: They're getting nutty because this campaign has gone on way too long.

Good Lord. If they're not lying, they're telling too much... :)

Oh I can hardly wait for "more, much more" on McCain! I loved this post. So pulled together and witty and all too (sadly) true.

Did you have a great birthday?
