Gone, But Don't Forget Me

I'm taking a little time off from the old Blog. We're getting ready to go to Omaha to visit Kell and Al for Thanksgiving. Leaving Saturday. So, although I'll try to keep reading your blogs and commenting, I'll be neglecting mine until after Thanksgiving. Maybe when I get back, I'll have some fresh ideas, or something to report.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Hopefully you'll be posting about the absolutely fabulous time you had at your daughters and how you can't move because you ate so much delicious food! :)

Have a wonderful trip, Betty. I'll send you off with these words from Matt Mason's poem, Ode to Omaha:

"It was never "Hog butcher to the world,"
not in reputation at least, but
dreams fill out big here,
blooming and bursting;

it's a city we move away from to Make It Big
and return to when that's not enough,
a few blips along I-80 without pine forest or mountains,
no Disneyland, Graceland, canyon, or Rushmore; it is basic,

it is simple, and from here the world still looks amazing,
a spectacle, carnival, magical frontier to touch and smell
and still feel content
to return home from."

Have a good time.
It's a wonder that Wal-Mart or the like hasn't thought up some way that us Brits can be 'fleeced' for Thanksgiving. :-)
