Friday Rant

James Dobson has accepted Mel Gibson's apology. Funny, he doesn't LOOK Jewish. So, now the folks at Fox and the Conservative Republicans can take their cue and, with a wink and a nudge, circle the wagons around their good buddy, Mel.

But, now that I realize he was issuing a blanket apology, I'll be generous and accept it, too. That's easy. But, I still believe that, deep down, he is anti semitic. In vino veritas, ya know.

Now about this newest terror threat. I don't doubt that people were plotting an attack. I think there are people in this country also plotting attacks, some of them are even Americans.

I just think that given the length of time that President Bush and Tony Blair have been discussing these latest plots, they just might have been putting off sounding the alarm until it could be sprung on us as an October surprise. Then, someone said, "Wait a minute. This attack appears to be iminent! Oops!"

And, now, they have arrested a few Pakistanis. Aren't they supposed to be on our side?

It's my personal opinion that if President Bush had ever been viewed by the rest of the world as a strong leader, there might not have been a 9/ll and things might be very different now.

We're now waiting for a vote in the U.N. signalling a cease-fire between Irael and Lebanon. It's deja vu all over again. They'll agree to a cease-fire, put away their rockets and fall back until the next round. They're the middle east equivalent of the Hatfields and McCoys.

------

And, the price of gas is going up, again.

-----

President Bush has announced his intention to privatize Social Security. If anyone would like to see how that would work, just look at the new prescription plan and multiply by 10. As soon as the pharmaceutical companies got the seniors signed up on the various plans, they raised their prices, and they will continue to raise prices and Medicare will continue to raise premiums until we won't be able to afford any of it because the "cost of living" Social Security increases won't begin to cover the premium cost increases. Then, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the prescription programs will disappear, just like corporate pension plans have done.

Why can't anyone see this, and do anything about it? Huh?

Rant over.

"They're the middle east equivalent of the Hatfields and McCoys."

No one could have summed that up better!

Plenty of people "see" it, my friend, except those we elect to do something about it!
