Notes on the News

King Richard III, the last Plantagenet King of England, had a really bad reputation. He was appointed "Lord Protector of the Realm" which meant he was supposed to protect the new king, 12 year old Edward VI until the boy was old enough to be crowned.  He protected him  by locking  him in the Tower of London, along with his brother, Richard.

The two brothers were never seen again, and, in the meantime,  Richard III claimed the crown in 1843 amid rumors that he had murdered the two boys. He was only able to enjoy being King for about two years, when he was killed in the Battle of Bosworth Field, in 1485. He was disrespectfully buried on the battlefield.

In the fullness of time, that battlefield was made a parking lot the bones were found.  Extensive DNA research confirmed that the bones belonged to Richard III. As an added bonus, a life-sized plastic model of his face, was constructed from his skull.

Here's the burning question in my mind:   Does this mean there is still hope for finding the bones of Jimmy Hoffa?  I hope it won't take 500 years.

Stay tuned.

I guess that will depend on how many new parking lots go up in the next few years.

I am a great admirer of Richard III who, evidence shows, was a fine man, a good brother and Uncle and a wise ruler. His reputation was blackened by the usurper who killed him at Bosworth, the upstart Henry IV.

Research has shown that the lies about Richard were all political hype. Henry paid a churchman to write blasphemous fiction that history has sadly accepted in order to secure his own dubious seizing of the throne.

Thanks, though, for the info that they have found his remains. I am touched and cheered by that.

I love English history of this period and thought this was so interesting. Read Phillipa Gregory's The White Queen, The Red Queen, etc. If you have not discovered them. I really love her books...read them in order, please. Sorry, I can't think of all the names. The Cousin's war?

Hello this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting
to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
