Ah, Young Love

It is 4 a.m. and things seem to have quieted down upstairs.  But, it was quite a show for awhile, there. My neighbor and his girlfriend have been drunk and disorderly since 2:30, and they don't care who hears them.

At one point, the girl was downstairs, outside, screaming up at the boyfriend who was, apparently, out on the porch.  The endearment that came through loudest and clearest was, "F---k you, Tyler, you drunken ass." Clearly, this was a case of the pot calling the kettle black.   The good news was I had reason to hope that she was going home.  But, no. She finally went back upstairs so she could get up in his face and continue to scream like a fishwife.

Would someone tell me why it is that people in apartments always feel the need to take the fight outside?  This seems to be a fairly universal trait, if history tells us anything.  And, apparently they need background music, because the first thing they do when they stagger home is turn on the loud, thumping music, heavy on bass.

I won't go into detail here, but, suffice it to say that these donnybrooks always seem to serve as foreplay. As soon as things quiet down, equally annoying noises begin. Then, all is quiet.

And, here I am, wide awake, sharing my discomfort and disgust with the world.  Thank God for the blogosphere.  And, thank God this only happens every now and then.

Maybe I can get back to sleep, now.  Thanks for listening.

Stay tuned.

Yuck! When we were just married in our 30s we lived on a house that had been converted into 2 apartments: one small one upstairs and one main floor and basement.

The upstairs ones had frequent change of tenants, but one couple obviously quarreled a lot, and all the other sounds you mentioned two.
Interestingly our little dinette sat by a main drainpipe for the whole house. It served quite well as a megaphone. Need I say more for...hmmmm dining--not peaceful nor romantic but certainly, well, interesting.

Our bedroom was on the main floor it was not beneath their apartment. Thank goodness.

Oh Wow! Some people just don't know or care what they sound like to others.

I'm glad at times like that that I have my own home in a quiet neighborhood.

Get some sleep!

Yuck! My neighbor is far from perfect but she's old like me so that sort of behavior is pretty much non-existent!

Wow...make-up sex is not something you would want to share with the neighbors, do you think? I have been sitting here trying to think of a safe but obvious way for your to make it clear that you heard everything in the hope that they will be embarrassed out of such behavior in the future. Sorry....I've got nothing except to point out to them when getting mail someday that you are so happy that they decided not to break things off after all.
Earplugs?
Your own loud music?
Broomstick to the ceiling?
Good luck. Sorry you have to be witness to all of that.

Peruby and NitWit1 and Kay: My sentiments exactly.

Margie: I plan to sleep well tonight. Thanks.

Chlost: I've considered pounding the broomstick on the ceiling. As far as embarrassing them, I don't think it's possible to embarrass young people these days.

You are right. It does not seem possible to embarrass young people these days. It is like they cannot even see or hear those around them.
