Feelin' Random

SNOWMAGGEDON!! This morning, I thought the promised blizzard would miss us. It snowed awhile, then stopped and the sun came out. Wouldn't you know it? And, me with all those extra groceries (things that don't need cooking), batteries, flashlights, charcoal, blankets and sweaters at the ready. I even topped of the battery in my Kindle. But, later, I felt better and stopped feeling silly. It started sowing really hard, and we now have at least 4" or more. That's better.

Have I mentioned that I love, love, love my Kindle? I love it more every time I use it. I have a hardcover book that I hadn't read, and when I picked it up the other day, I thought, "Wow", this is heavy. Clumsy, too. I complained my way through it, and went right back to Kindle.

Looks as though Hosni Mubarak has given up the ghost, and announced he won't run for President of Egypt in September. He hopes to stay on to help with a "smooth transition." Who sees the fine hand of the Obama Administration in his move? Mubarak says it is what he intended to do all along, but, it seems to have taken a former Ambassador to Egypt whispering in his ear to nudge him into making the speech.

Anybody out there watching American Idol this year? I tuned in for a few minutes on the first night and quickly turned it off. I think it has finally jumped the shark.

-----

Oh, goody! NCIS is back tonight with a new episode! So is NCIS Los Angeles, although I don't like it as much. I've been watching a new show on Monday nights - "Harry's Law." It stars Kathy Bates as a lawyer who gets kicked out of her law firm and opens up one of her own in a very seedy, depressed area of the city. I'm really enjoying it.

Since the news media in this country isn't able to multi-task, they have abandoned their daily updates on Gaby, and she was recovering so quickly I almost expect the next time we see her, she will be taking her seat in the House of Representatives and looking as though nothing happened to her.

Stay tuned.

It is such a treat to read your posts. Isn't it funny how we feel sort of cheated if the weather predictors are wrong about bad weather?
I love your statement about the media not being able to multi-task. That is absolutely right. I hope she is doing well in her recovery.
I've never liked AI, but I have found 2 new shows on PBS that both my husband and I love- "Downton Abbey" and "Doc Martin". One after the other on Sundays. We try not to miss them.
Snuggle up with the Kindle and enjoy your snow days.

A Downton Abbey fan! How great. I can't wait for season 2.

You sound exactly like I would expect of someone about to be snowed in. A little of this and a little of that until you settle in. Lol.

Never an American Idol fan, but I have interest in checking out Kathy Bates' show. I'll have to scedule it on the DVR since I am currently without a TV of my own.
I still don't own a Kindle, but they are well liked by book reading friends who do. Maybe some day I will get one as a gift.

We stocked up also for our storm. We didn't get much snow but it is 1 degree and the wind has been blowing hard. I went out to the mailbox and almost blew away (lol). We are warm & toasty waiting for it to go away :)

I have kindle on my pc. I love it :)

I think you're right, we won't see anything more on Gaby till she's taken her seat. The media are such jerks.

take care :)

I had never heard of Abby Giffords or her husband, Mark Kelly, before the shooting. I'm a real sucker for a good love story so I was soon hooked. Since she's now in the long hard stage of rehabilitation I figured we'd soon stop hearing about her. I set Google Alert to alert me when any news pops up on the two of them or about the Endeavour STS134 shuttle her husband will fly in April. The problem with Google Alert is it's found every instance their names have been mentioned.

I want her to recover and run for governor of Arizona.

Here in southeast Kansas we got about 18 inches. I'd be happy to pack some up and send it to you. :)

I can't find anything to watch on TV. I may try to find that Kathy Bates show.

I've never been an American Idol fan.

I think Gabby's family deserve a rest from reporters. She in rehab and that will be a long, long haul and she will probably never be quite the same.

Like you I was prepared but just some rain which we needed. Kind of disappointed but glad you at least got some snow.
Know what you mean about Kindle. I have a delightful book that I want to read but it is in hard copy. They are so heavy and you have to mark your place. I am totally spoiled.
I like the Kathy Bates show too.

I think your "smooth transition" may be in trouble as I've just been watching BBC News and those Egyptians are beating the shit out of each other.

We didn't get snow, but we sure got the cold. It was 9 degrees here last night and not much warmer now. It broke a record for the coldest night. It sure doesn't feel like Arizona.

I have never been interested in American Idol but love, love, love NCIS. I'm with you on the L. A. one not being as good. My next favorite is The Good Wife. I also love Downton Abbey.

I have mixed emotions on Harry. I'll see how it plays out.

I just got a Kindle and am learning how to use it. It's really a lot of fun.
