Walgreens Revisited

The good news is my lab results were so good, the doctor took me off one of my diabetes medications. Also, there are new lab techs at the doctor's office. The husband and wife team retired. HE was ok, but SHE couldn't hit a vein if it was lying on top of my skin. The bad news is I have to test regularly for the next three months to make sure my blood sugar doesn't go too high. Then, I have to go back to the lab and then to the doctor. I'm being punished for being good.

Another form of punishment was having to wrangle with Walgreens, again, because they made yet another mistake on my prescription for a glucometer. All I wanted was a newfangled one that would let me test on some body part other than my fingertips. So, I asked for one of those tiny little things that has the test strips inside, and the pen for the lancets that held several lancets at a time. Apparently that was asking too much. I frequently do that.

What I got was a nice new glucometer, with a place for multiple test strips inside, and lancet drums that wouldn't fit the lancet pen that came with the glucometer. After I read every single word of the booklet and logged onto the website, I confirmed that they were the wrong lancets. Uh-oh. Gotta call Walgreens. The question to be answered was, should I swap my glucometer for the one that would fit the drums that contained several lancets or keep it and get the single lancets.

Well, I copped out. I just didn't feel up to trying to explain my problem to Walgreens so soon after my last battle with them, so I asked Jay to do it for me. Yes, I am a coward.

Anyhoo, although I'm sure he would rather have done almost anything else today, he gallantly gathered up all of my testing supplies and went forth to do battle with Walgreens. Actually, it wasn't too bad. They just swapped the wrong lancets for the right ones and that was that.

Jay's my hero.

Stay tuned.

Congrats on having some positive results. We don't have a Walgreens is our area--guess we're not missing much.

Congrats on such good test results an glad you got the lancelets straightened out.

Since I am a retired pharmacist I have to sympathixe with them. there is not excuse for messups, but most employers don't provide enough ancillary helpt to allow the pharmacist to concentrate on what he is supposed to do.

Glad I stayed retired after my SS disability ran out.

Looking to the Stars: Jay is a good son.

Olga: Believe it or not, Walgreens is much better than the local pharmacy I went to for years.

Nitwit1: They have always been very efficient, until the last few months. I think they have trouble finding good techs here.

Joy: Thanks. Yes, I do feel better, or I will, as soon as I get my blood sugar up a little bit.

Peggy: Yes he is, but you already knew what a good guy he is, didn't you?

Arkansas Patti: They are always willing to help straighten out their mistakes, even though they want to blame someone else for them. I guess that's human nature.

Cazzie: I would have had this good news a lot sooner if I didn't dread going to the doctor so much, and keep putting it off. I'm going to do better there, too.

Congratulations on being so good. You must teach me how to use willpower. If there is chocolate in the house it calls to me constantly until I respond.
