A Little of This, A Little of That

Today (March 15) is the Ides of March, the day some 60+ conspirators got together and stabbed Julius Caesar to death. Thus, the word "overkill" was born.

THE SUPREMES? POLITICAL?

It was reported in the newspaper that Virginia Thomas, wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, has launched a tea-party-linked group. They plan to issue scorecards for Congress members and will be involved in the November elections. According to Ms. Thomas, she is happy to announce that, thanks to the campaign finance rules recently loosened by the Supreme Court, her group will be able to accept donations from various sources, including corporations.

I kinda think it might have been a good idea for Justice Thomas to recuse himself from participating in that decision. He and his wife would like for us to believe that, as was explained during Thomas's conformation hearings, he and his wife NEVER talk business at home.

Do we believe that? I don't think so.

NINETY ISN'T OLD, IS IT?

More on the Supremes.

Justice John Paul Stevens will celebrate his 90th birthday next month. He says he will decide then whether to retire or not.

SLUT ALERT!!!!

Did anyone read the article in "GQ" magazine featuring Rielle Hunter? You remember her, don't you? The sweet young thing who was swept off her feet by John Edwards while he was campaigning for President. If you don't read that magazine for the articles, then read it for the photos, which just miss being appropriate for Playboy.

She would like to tell us that she was NOT paid for her interview. I think I would feel a bit better about it if she HAD been paid. This way, she just wanted to blab and show off her "bootay". I'm afraid she came off as just what she is, and what everyone around her has always known about her.

Everyone has been pounding on Edwards for being a hound dog and betraying his sick wife, lying about his affair, yadda, yadda, yadda, yawn. There were three people involved in this scandal (the child wasn't a player), John, Rielle and Elizabeth. Elizabeth has appeared all over the talk shows and written a book trashing John. Now, for some reason, Rielle has given an interview that will undoubtedly damage John, again, simply by reminding everyone how sleazy they all are. And, all the while, she professes her great love for him.

At the same time she was sleeping with John, she was also sleeping with Jeff Goldblum, and she even tried to convince Jeff that HE was the father of her baby.

No wonder John Edwards wanted a DNA test done.

TEXAS REVISIONISTS

The Texas State Board of Education wants the new history books to play DOWN the importance of Thomas Jefferson, he of the Declaration of Independence, and play UP the importance of Jefferson Davis, Abraham Lincoln, Phyllis Schafley and the NRA.

Holey Moley!

A POLTERGEIST IN THE HOUSE?

It has been reported by one Representative Sheldon, of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, that someone has been removing the photograph of President Obama from a wall in the chamber. He says it has happened several times, but he can't figure out who is removing it.

MISSISSIPPI STILL BURNING?

In a Mississippi school, the Principal has called off the Senior Prom because one of the female students wants to bring a date -- her girlfriend. Fortunately, the Prom doesn't have to be held in the school. It can be held anywhere, sponsored by anybody. So, there will probably be a Prom somewhere, and the girls will be there, one in a tux and the other in a frilly gown. It is not known whether anyone else will go.

AND IN LOCAL NEWS

A very young lady wrote a letter to the editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette a couple of weeks ago, stating her opinion that people over60 shouldn't be allowed to drive. Her reason for this is because they might be coming down with Alzheimers.

I have never seen such a flurry of activity on the Letters page. She has really stirred up the Seniors! Whoo-eeee!

Talk aboutcher generation gap. I'll bet Justice Stevens still drives his car on his days off.

Stay tuned.

Wow!!!!! Lotsa thoughts!!!!!

On Caesar: I always remember Marc Antony's funeral oration from Shakespeare's play which I had to memorize in high school and can still recite it: "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones. So let it be with Caesar." I think we've got a buncha politicians who fit that, don't you?

Clarence Thomas? See above.

John Edwards and 'friends': Ditto!

Texas Revisionists? They are probably being led by 'the Shrub' as Molly Ivins called him. I wonder is he's finished coloring the books for the presidential library yet.

Polterfeit? hmmmm Maybe it's the ghost of one of the pre-desegregation governors. A couple of 'em already had the white sheets.

re: Mississippi -- I hope they do hold it elsewhere and everybody goes!

re: local -- Damn right!!!!

And thanks!!!! I had fun!!!!

Yikes, brain over load so I guess I will go with "easy". Wonder if that young lady would appreciate having driving restricted to those 30 to 60. I mean, anyone younger probably hasn't the mature judgment to drive which is an equally inaccurate statement.
Interesting post.

It's always an education to visit your blog. I wanna suggest checking the office of a certain representative from South Carolina, bless his heart, if looking for a certain missing portrait.

Whew! I'm exhausted. I am a CNN and an NPR junkie, so had heard most of this, but it makes my head want to explode. I think my Yellowstone trip will be good for me. I won't be able to watch the news everyday. I need a break from the insanity. I do like how you think.

I also, like the way you think :)

I'm the opposite of the young lady who doesn't believe people over 60 should drive. I believe that no one should drive till they are 28, let her sit on that one :)
