Que Sera, Sarah

Sarah Palin quit her post as Governor of Alaska today because she didn't want to be a "lame duck". Apparently, she was afraid she wouldn't be effective as governor for the remainder of her term, because, you know, she has been so very effective in the post for the last year.

She made her usual Republican talking points and flag-waving speech, taking a minute or two out to take a swing at the media, "Stop making things up!" and Hollywood, "The starlets are coming to take your guns", or some such blather.

Unfortunately, we can't look forward to her disappearance into oblivion. Like the farmers who can't be expected to stay down on the farm after they've seen Paree, she's had a taste of the good life. Politics being more fruitful than she ever dreamed possible, she will not go quietly into this good night. We'll have to pry that microphone out of her cold dead hand, because she is now free to embark on her speaking career.

Expect her to pop up at tea parties all over America, and picnics, county fairs, goat ropin's and any and all gatherings of wingnuts. And, CNN and MSNBC and Fox News will all be there to memorialize on tape every golden word she utters. You betcha!

John McCain, you have a lot to answer for, because you created this monster.

Stay tuned.

Wowzer - kinda cranky aren't you?

You are so right about John McCain having a lot to answer for. I wonder what he thinks of her now. I would like her to fade into oblivion but like you said she definitely plans to stay around. She is pretty much of a joke in my book but I am sure there are those out there that are totally taken in by her. Just my opinion.

She really gives women a bad name. The only thing scarier than her, is to realize that a lot of people think she is wonderful.
Does that mean that if God forbid she would be elected president, whe would quit in the middle of her second term to avoid lame duckism?

Betty,

You are so right about McCain creating a monster. Palin..

And,yes, you will be seeing her at picnics and tea parties etc, always accompanied by her loyal assistant,Igor!

Good one, Betty. If you are cranky then I'm raving mad. Good looks seem to count for more than brains.

John McCain was still singing her praises on an interview he gave right after she quit. I hope he doesn't really believe all that crap. If so, we really did dodge a bullet when he lost.

grayquill: Yes, I guess I am. Old people get cranky sometimes. Palin makes me cranky.

Judy: Your opinion is welcome here.

Arkansas Patti: Maybe she should be Vice President. Then, she could be sent to some little known corner of the world every time she opens her mouth.

Darlene: Grayquill is kidding, I think. He's probably surprised that someone as sweet and docile as myself can lose her temper on occasion. lol

I keep wondering why Palin thinks a lame duck Gov. is worse than no/substitute (Lt.) Gov. It makes no sense to me. However, I do believe the media blows things out of proportion when they don't need to. She does a fine job on her own, thank you very much.

I haven't seen any posts from you on the success of Obama's stimulus plan, or any of his "successes". I'm no happier with him than I was with Busch. Socialism here we come! Not sure how that is going to work for us, but am not very optimistic.

The names of two people that invariably cause my eyes to roll into the back of my head....the results of which give me a very bad headache.....

Palin & Huckabee!! Huckabee & Palin!!

Sounds really bad either way. And my opinion of either of them is pretty much equal.

I think, and have always thought, that Palin is trying to fashion herself as some sort of female Will Rogers with her cute little down-home remarks and colloquialisms. A mark she falls far short of if for no other reason than sheer intelligence!

So what's my worst nightmare? That they comprise the Republican ticket in 2012. I can only hope if that be the case that the good Lord grant me a pass from this world before campaigning starts so I don't have to be subjected to all their BS!

She's a bewilderment to me but she sure provides Saturday Night Live with some good material. The writers never had it so good. All they had to do was wait for her to speak and the bam another smash skit!

Deanna: I'm still trying to understand the stimulus plans, but I do think we'll find that he is beginning to have plenty of successes. We're just too impatient. I am concentrating more on health care, right now, and holding my breath.

Alan: Huckabee and Palin hmmm? I don't think Huckabee would want her on a ticket with him.

oklhdan: I loved all the skits on SNL during the campaign.

If you think about, the Republicans were trying to be more "Hollywoodish" that the Dems. The Democrats didn't want Hilary; she's old and over the hill. Instead they picked the youthful and goodlooking Obama. The Republicans had McCain who's older than dirt and came up with the hot and young female lead...sans Palin. You can't get much more Hollywood than that!

I thought I would gather up your "labels" and say just that! LOL Palin/Schmalin, she is a 'lame duck' 'quitter', and plays the 'victim' and if I agree that Huckabee would probably not want her whinin' butt beside him..
((There, said my piece..smile)))
Sorry to be so tardy to your site, but been mired down and the temps here in OR have been in the 100's...
