My Computer's Out To Get Me

My little problem with Google knocking me offline in Google Reader seems to be over. That's the good news. The bad news is I have another problem. Up in the toolbars, on the extreme right, there's usually a big green dot and beside it is the beginning of my gmail address. Today, however, the dot is orange, with an exclamation mark inside it. When I put the cursor on it, I get the following message: "Toolbar settings cannotbe stored online because your browser is offline. Please check your network and browser settings and try again. "

What network settings? What browser settings? Where are they? How can I find them? Then, what do I do?

Actually, in spite of the big orange dot, I have been able to access everything I wanted to, including Google Reader, e-mail, and bookmarks. I do have to press "refresh" every time I want to access my bookmarks, but that has been happening for a long time.

My knowledge of computers is on about the same level with my knowledge of my car. If I turn it on and it goes where I want it to, it's ok. If not, it's broke.

And, wouldn't you know, Jay has gone to visit his sister and brother-in-law in Omaha, NE for the next few days.

He can run, but he can't hide. I emailed him with my tale of woe, and am now awaiting his response. I'm not expecting miracles.

Stay tuned.

First, I <3 google reader, but I've had some weird problems on my igoogle page. I logged out of Google and logged back in... everything seemed happy. :)

Rookie here, with less skill levels than you. You at least have a helpful sourse in Jay.
I would be heading for my computer guy(who charges).
Good luck.

Sometimes rebooting solves stuff. Once a week ago, I had to reboot three times to get my laptop to connect to the internet. It's a vicious conspiracy!

I am in trouble too. I am trying to instale a new disk for antivirus and nothing. I have decided to shave off my hair and dress in sack cloth and ashes and go set by the road like Job if that doesn't work I will have to call sister and she isn't nice sometimes!

Argh!!!! This shouldn't be too hard to fix unless you have hardware problems. Have you run your anti-virus and spyware programs? I'm guessing you have Google toolbar and therein lies the problem if we're talking about orange and green dots.

If were nearby, I'd run over and take a look.

kenju: Thanks. I hope things straighten out soon.

Donna: It seems there's a new problem every day.

Patti: I know I need more memory, but, I don't think that has anything to do with it. I'll just rely on Jay.

Margie: Rebooting doesn't seem to make any difference. Thanks anyway, though.

Patsy: Jay is nice, but I know he thinks Mom is an idiot. lol

Kay: Yes, it is the Google toolbar.
