Deconstructing Sarah

Photobucket

Now, now. Don't go jumping to conclusions. I know I was pretty hard on Sarah Palin during the campaign, but I'm not here to gloat. You won't hear any more snarky remarks about her from me. That would be piling on. Besides, she has members of her own party who are all too willing to do that.

Why should they criticize John McCain or his advisors for running a less than stellar campaign, when they have a woman on whom they can lay all the blame. Better yet, one nobody ever heard from before she was chosen as McCain's running mate.

In fact, it has already started. You've probably heard the stories coming out of the defunct campaign, so I'm not going to repeat them. You'll hear plenty of "inside info" in the form of "now, we can tell it" gossip about how she brought McCain down. And, there are plenty of media types willing and eager to repeat all the gory details.

No, I won't be guilty of kicking her while she's down. But, I would like to offer her some advice.

Sarah, go back to Alaska as fast as you can. Go home, batten down the hatches and keep your head up and your mouth shut. Talking back will just prolong the agony. Just let the storm rage around you until it finally blows itself out.

Then, resume your life, do your gubernatorial duties and enjoy your family. Who knows what will happen in the next four years. If you play your cards right, you might be the only one of the bunch left standing.

I was hard on Sarah, too. However, she did earn the disrespect of many. I hope she figures out that maybe she isn't ready to play with the big kids and stays home.

I don't think we've heard the last of her.

I agree with Kay.
The world is going to see and hear about this bimbo for a long time to come.
Unfortunately.

I agree that she is a bimbo. How on earth John McCain ever chose her is beyond me. However, now that the election is over she should rest in peace. She has her hands full with a Down Syndrome baby and a large family.

The poor woman doesn't have the smarts to play with the big boys...or even the big girls. In order to do that, she has to make intelligent sounding statements and she just doesn't...she reminds me of a female Bush.

I feel sorry for her. She was out of her league.

I wish I could feel sorry for her, but she keeps on digging her hole deeper with her anger at everyone else. To hear her tell it she didn't make a single mistake - it was all the McCain committee's fault. She is not only small minded, she is a poor loser.

Todd looked angry when McCain lost. He obviously had been harboring dreams of being First Dude and his hope was dashed.

I think that's good advice for Sarah Palin. They started using her as the scapegoat very early on and it's just getting worse. I'm not saying she is blameless or an innocent victim, but this was McCain's campaign and he agreed to everything, so like he said in his speech--the fault was his. And I don't trust "anonymous sources" especially when they are used to pull someone down while propping someone else up.

Maybe she'll run for the senate. Should be interesting.

Truth and honor wins out...that's all I can say. I don't EVER think she'll understand or admit to the awful, cruel and disgusting behavior she stooped to in this campaign. The sad thing...she actually may not even think she did. All the more reason that the American people weren't duped by any of it. When John McCain gave his concession speech Sarah Palin was standing there with tears in her eyes. We all know it was because her journey to the White House was over; but it would have been nice to think it was in reflection of her malicious behavior during this whole fiasco. But you know what...I think Barack Obama would hope she would find some peace....

Very good advice, Betty! You're a smart woman.

I came here just as ET is showing stories of how nuts Palin is/was

I would love to feel for her because I do think she was used BUT she is too hateful a person.

I have been a life-long Democrat that worked very hard for Hillary. Sarah put me over the top and I worked extremely hard to help get Obama elected....I am really a happy camper now!!!!

Kay: Oh, I think she'll turn up again.

bear naked and margie: She's a bimbo, all right.

darlene: Apparently, the Republicans are going to have to go to Alaska to retrieve the clothes they bought her.

kell: It always amazes me when women allow themselves to be used the way she was.

joy: She was standing there with tears in her eyes and a speech in her hand. She actually thought she should be allowed to make a concession speech. Idiot.

kenju: Thanks.

dianne: "too hateful a person" - just what the Republicans wanted. And, they got it in spades!

winnie: I'm a happy camper, too.

She did liven things up for a bit...

Whoever thought she should give Ms. Couric a three hour interview should never be allowed on a campaign staff ever again...

Seriously, the average interview is like eighteen minutes at best.

Betty: I am not a fan of Sarah Palin, yet she was McCain's pick.

He was the gambler who chose her.

He said it himself (much to his credit) that the failure of his attempt belongs with him, and it does.

Whatever her ambition, whatever her legitimate political credentials, she was unprepared and seemingly unqualified.

dirk: There were so many bad decisions made by McCain and his advisors, and that Couric interview was one of them.

richard: Every candidate needs preparation for interviews, no matter how qualified or unqualified. She was just too far behind to start with that she couldn't be prepared in time.
