Judgement Day

I've been asked for my opinion, a rare occurrence, so I decided to be judgemental today. Not that I ever hold back an opinion when I haven't been asked.

Arkansas Songbird asked what I thought about the latest antic of former Governor Mike Huckabee's son, David. He was arrested at the Little Rock airport for having a locked and loaded 9mm Glock in his backpack.

He said he forgot it was in there. I guess the ability to "forget" that you have a loaded gun in your backpack is a guy thing, because if I had a gun in my purse or backpack, I wouldn't be able to forget it for a minute. But, that's neither here nor there.

His father seems to have washed his hands of the whole thing. His statement was, "I love my sone, but this was irresponsible, yadda, yadda, yadda." And, I assume he left the young man to his fate with that. After all, we can't have anything interfering with dad's failed presidential candidacy. I haven't seen or heard of any statement from Janet Huckabee, David's doting mom. But, I have noted that David's license to carry a concealed weapon has been revoked and he was sentenced to 1 year in jail, suspended, and to 100 hours of community service.

I remember reading about his dog-torturing and killing episode when he was a counselor at a cub scout camp camp, and thinking that he needed some help, but I don't know whether he had counseling or not. At any rate, it would seem to me that he shouldn't be allowed to carry a firearm, given his violent nature. Now, don't tell me that he might not be violent any more - counseling doesn't cure you, it just teaches you how to deal with your impulses. The old "leopard and spots" theory applies. Besides, he was 18 years old at the time. You don't develop these violent tendencies overnight.

What do you think, Songbird?

Jim Bob Duggar's wife is pregnant, again. Number SEVENTEEN! Omigawd! She must have the world's strongest constitution, to pop one or two out every couple of years.

This just seems wrong on so many levels, it almost rendered me speechless. Almost.

How do they manage to keep those kids in shoes? You can pass clothes down, but, childrens' shoes usually wear out in a hurry. Do they just make a general announcement like, "OK, kids, eight of you get shoes this year. Who's shoes are the most worn out? The Nine who don't get shoes this year will get new underwear."

And, how do they give each child the attention he/she deserves? Putting older siblings in charge of younger ones can't be called parenting.

Mr. Duggar has made the statement that they will continue to have children as long as his wife is willing. (Have mercy!)

Betty, I think the young man is psychotic. It would not surprise me one bit to learn that he spent his childhood torturing helpless animals. Folks around here say that he tied up the dog and burned it with a cigarette lighter before doing all the other things to the poor animal. I lost respect for the Boy Scout leaders at the camp, especially the caretaker who lives here year round, when they did not have those boys arrested. My belief is that we will suffer more at the hands of young Huckabee. To put it in my mother's words, "That boy is nuttier than a fruitcake." 'Nuff said.

Wow, I didn't know anything about this boy until I heard the news the other day. I've lived here since 2000 - were they keeping him under wraps all that time? Or was I just not paying enough attention? Geez.

About the Duggars, I've heard of them since I've been living in Arkansas and today watched a program on Discovery about them. It was quite interesting to see them all in action. Of course it was a TV show but the children all seemed well behaved and the parents seemed caring and responsible. They said they have no debt at all, not for their house or their car and that they buy their clothes once a year at a resale shop when there's a sale.
In that program she brought home baby number 16.

I have no idea how they have the energy for all this, especially her since she's taking care of the house, homeschooling the children and giving birth every 18 months or so. After watching her in action and seeing all those kids, I was so tired I lay down on the couch and took a nap.

Makes you wonder if Jim Bob is not a Mormon. Sorry that was not nice.

David is HUGE...I mean HUGE...do you think Mike had his stomache banded ...he said he did not, but
Erin thinks he did.

One of the ways the Duggars is that they get a lot of stuff for free. There are some fundamentalist groups in NW Arkansas that do fundraising for them to buy stuff for them. A lot of the materials for thier house were donated or bought by the church for them.

As for David Huckabee ... That boy ain't right.

Michelle Duggar certainly does like babies! What would old James Robert Duggar do if his wife died in childbirth?

i saw the "MAMA " on tv and I told my daughter the woman would die in child birth. i can't see any reason for them to keep having children.

Well, Betty, these thigns I never knew because, well, I am over here and you are over there so thanks for posting them here...
Anyway, I grew up with my Pa and my Dad being members of a shotgun club, they shot clay targets for sport. My brother and I learned gun safety at a young age. We used to shoot with our PA and our Dad.
When I was a teen and in cadets, I went to Weapons Training Camp, we learned safety for 13 days and got to shoot at a range on the very last day, providing we passed the safety aspects.
To carry a loaded weapon is just asking for trouble. To have a violent nature already come to the fore, and to have a gun licence is definitely recipe for disaster. Not good. I am glad that boy's licence has been revoked.

17 kids, OMG, I got 4 and yes, their shoes do wear out so fast right now!!! Giving time, quality time to all my kids is hard enough yet manageable, but to 17, you would need a roster and a timetable and stick to it avidly, unreal!!
