Back From Exile

I'm back. did you miss me? No? WELL!

My computer has been in the shop for the last couple of days, because of a burned out power supply. OH, NO! I've been upset, bereft, confused and whiny. But, I'm ok, now, than you very much.

It's not as though I haven't had access to a computer, of sorts. Jay graciously offered to let me share his laptop, an abomination called Apple. (Sorry Kell and Al, but I just can't get used to an I-book.

Being a touch-typist, my fingers don't "touch" the right places on the laptop, and I have to watch what I'm trying to type. And, of course, none of my bookmarks are there, so I have to remember web addresses (including my own), so, except for a very cursory look at some blogs, the Drudge report and my e-mail, I didn't use it much. I couldn't even print out the Washington Post daily crossword puzzle.

Old people get cranky easily. It just doesn't do to upset old people, as Jay can certainly tell you. Being without my computer felt like punishment, and old ladies don't take well to punishment. So, it was with some relief on his part, that he rushed to get my computer back as soon as it was fixed. He's such a sweetheart. See? I'm better already.

It'll be a couple of days before I blog again, because I have a lot of catching up to do, and because I have to calm down and think of something to blog about.

Know what you mean about the keys on a laptop. I convinced our IT guy at work to hook up a regular keyboard to the laptop just so I could type! Then I guess you lose the convenience of it...oh well!

Sort of feels like an amputation when we are without our computers, doesn't it!

Glad you got your right arm back.

glad you got it back. hope mine lasts until i die i would never be able to afford another one. one of our readers ask how you were related to us. i tolds sister you probably would stop blogging. i am amazed at your and my reading. you are the only person i have heard say they read the drudge report besides myself. when i put your link on my page sister in arizona was reading your blog and thought it was our sister, betty one day after about 2 weeks she called and said who is this woman, i thought she was betty jean.

When I work from the keyboard on my laptop I tend to do the strangest things. Send stuff, delete stuff, move stuff when I thought all I was doing was typing. Oh well.

So, I have a real keyboard for here at work.

I think the biggest bummer is not having your favorites. Even with someone else's computer you still don't know where you go all the time. I saved all mine to a word document and printed it so I would have them just in case.

I do the same strange thing with my laptop. (although I was lost when it was being repaired)

It's good that you are back and have your own keyboard back. I bet Jay's happy too! tee hee

Everyone's commenting on the computer! I rather enjoyed your summation of "old people"!

Problem is we aren't getting any younger so I guess we'll have to settle for cranky. Suits me anyway.

I have a laptop at work, and an ergonomic keyboard to use with it, like the one I have at home.

When I was having computer problems at home, it was a burned out power suppy. How nice it must be to be able to take your computer in to the shop and get it fixed -- I had to order the part from out of state and have my son fix it.

My mom, who I believe is a couple of years older than you, repeatedly tells me that she has earned the right to say and do exactly what she wants and feels like saying and doing. I DO NOT argue with her!!

When I tried to do without my computer for a few days I went 'cold turkey'. Not a pleasant experience.

Being without a computer IS punishment to me. I have a mac and having to do with a PC is also punishment, but less so than no computer at all.
