Que Sera, Sarah

Sarah Palin quit her post as Governor of Alaska today because she didn't want to be a "lame duck". Apparently, she was afraid she wouldn't be effective as governor for the remainder of her term, because, you know, she has been so very effective in the post for the last year.

She made her usual Republican talking points and flag-waving speech, taking a minute or two out to take a swing at the media, "Stop making things up!" and Hollywood, "The starlets are coming to take your guns", or some such blather.

Unfortunately, we can't look forward to her disappearance into oblivion. Like the farmers who can't be expected to stay down on the farm after they've seen Paree, she's had a taste of the good life. Politics being more fruitful than she ever dreamed possible, she will not go quietly into this good night. We'll have to pry that microphone out of her cold dead hand, because she is now free to embark on her speaking career.

Expect her to pop up at tea parties all over America, and picnics, county fairs, goat ropin's and any and all gatherings of wingnuts. And, CNN and MSNBC and Fox News will all be there to memorialize on tape every golden word she utters. You betcha!

John McCain, you have a lot to answer for, because you created this monster.
