By now, everyone has heard about the Jet Blue flight attendant, Steven Slater, who lost his cool when a passenger got out of her seat and started taking things down from the overhead storage unit while the plane was still taxiing. When he asked her to sit back down, she had some choice words for him and allegedly hit him in the head with the pull-down door of the storage unit. He proceeded to grab the microphone of the plane's intercom and had a few choice words in return for the woman and passengers in general. Then, he grabbed a couple of beers, deployed the emergency escape chute, slid down it, and went home.
The article I read didn't say if he got a standing ovation from the other passengers, but if I had been on that plane, he'd have gotten one from me. I can't count the number of times over the years that I have wanted to quit a job with a grand exit, but chickened out because I really needed that job. But, if I hadn't retired (that is to say, had my job jerked out from under me) the time was rapidly approaching when I might have gone out with a bang, instead of a whimper.
So, good on 'ya, Steven. That's telling 'em! However, excuse my asking, but what are you gonna do now?
Stay tuned.
