Reunion (Part Deux)

The Inn at Carnall Hall on the campus of the University of Arkansas




Carnall Hall was built in 1906 on the extreme edge of the campus because it was the furtherest distance from the mens dorms. It was closed in 1967 and then reopened in 1969 as a fraternity house. After that, it was used for classrooms. It was closed again and almost torn down in 1991.

Paula Marinoni (daughter of one-time Arkansas Poet Laureate Rosa Marinoni) spearheaded a drive to save Carnall. She and other locals and former residents fought and won. It reopened, fully renovated, in 2003 as The Inn at Carnall Hall and Ella's Restaurant.

It's Not Easy Being Nice

Now, I need to pass the award on to five more people, and who will it be? There are so many nice people on my blog roll, it's hard to narrow it down. But, here goes.

First, my daughter, Kell, at 'Tis Herself, because she is about the nicest person I know.

Next, to my son, Jay, at Cynical Bastard, because no matter how many time he might deny it, he is really a nice person.

As you can see, I have no objection to nepotism.

Then, there's Carmen, at Poker Girl, whose blog is fun to read.

And, I can't forget Newt, at Newt's Musings, who is always so nice to old ladies.

One more, one more - ONLY one more.

Ah, yes. Her Indoors, because she always gives us a laugh.
