Trouble With My Laptop

It's beginning to look as though I will have to return my new laptop.  I mostly watch movies on Netflix and AcornTV on it, and for some reason, the movies aren't working properly.  Neither are some videos. They either freeze up, start and stop, or the sound and the moths don't work together.

I'm going to give it a few more days, maybe try again on the weekend - that's when I usually binge-watch movies for two straight days. If the problem is still there, and I cant find out what's wrong,  I'll take it back and search for something I'll like.

This is disappointing, because I like HP computers.  Jay thinks the freezing and out-of-sync sound has something to do with trying to stream movies in HD.  But, he doesn't know how to find out.

Also, this laptop has Windows 8, and it's a real piece of work, too. Good grief!  But, I could put up with having to learn how to use it, if my movies worked.  I'll get to the bottom of it, or I'll get a different laptop.

Stay tuned.

What a pain in the @$$! Computers are like dogs and children: they're the best things ever--couldn't imagine life without them--but they can aggravate you to death.

Frustrating when things just don't work the way we want them to!! I had problems when I first got a new laptop and eventually found out the wireless router was too old and not up to the job. There are just so many things to try to troubleshoot, I give up very easily.

When I needed some work done recently, our tech specifically refused to load Windows 8 and told me to stick with 7 instead as it doesn't have the problems that 8 has. Don't know if you have a compatibility problem or not but that would be first on the list of things to check. Good luck! :)

It sounds like your router may need to be replaced with a newer version that can better handle windows 8 and HD

Do you have enough speed in your internet?

Is there something on your pc that's preventing them from working properly?
