Home, Again

I'm back, but I'm not necessarily all there, if you catch my drift. It takes me a lot longer to recover from a change of routine than it used to. The eight-hour drive was just deadly boring. We had to drive the length of Missouri, then across a corner of Iowa, into Nebraska, and back the same way a week later .

We had a fine time in Omaha. We always enjoy going to Kelley and Allen's house. I bonded again with my grandpuppy, Cosette. She loves her granny, but she loves her Uncle Jay more. She woke me up each morning by trying to climb all over me and lick my face. I managed to fend her off, but I could see in her expressive little eyes that she was primed and ready to take advantage of the first opportunity to lunge if I loosened my grip just a little bit. She only got me on the lips once. Bleah! I've been kissed by a dog!

Kelley brined the turkey again this year. It was very tasty - moist and perfectly cooked. She's such a good cook! The four of us pigged out on turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, asparagus/pea casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, gravy and chocolate pecan pie. Yum!

A few of their friends came by Thanksgiving evening for dessert. Lots of fun. Nice people.

We came back with colds. Jay had shared his with me again. Sometimes I think he might could be a little less generous.

This blog will probably be kind of on again, off again through December. I'm in one of my moods. But, if anything momentous happens, I'll be right here, giving you a piece of my mind. And, of course, I'll be reading your blogs and commenting. Be forewarned.

Stay tuned.

Welcome back to home territory again. That table makes me want to spend Thanksgiving in America. Someday I will.

Gosh, and I thought I was done with turkey but that table looked really good.
If only we didn't know what dogs did with their tongues when they weren't kissing us. A real cutie though.
Welcome back and totally understand your attitude about traveling. I am heading for Florida for Christmas and while I am anxious to see everyone, I know it will whip me.

Chocolate pecan pie; a desert to die for. I love pecan pie and when my favorite cholcolate is part of the mix I would have taken the pie into a corner and made myself sick pigging out. I guess it's a good thing the pie is just a digital one for me.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to reading your info on Amelia Earhart.

Margie: We did. We always have a good time at Kelley and Allen's.

Cazzie: She is cute. And, so is he.

Grannymar: You're in for a treat if you're in America for Thanksgiving.

Arkansas Patti: Oh, but it's worth every ache and pain!

Margarethall: We got home just in time for the temperatures to plunge into the 20's here. Brrr. Tea sounds good. Hot chocolate sounds even better.

Darlene: I had designs on the pecan pie that was left over, but one of the guests outran me, and took most of the leftover pie home with him. Curses! Foiled again! But, I guess he saved me from myself.

Pet face kissing, reminded me of my son - he has been known to let the his cat - excuse me my cat seeing how he moved out and left the beast. Sorry I digress. He has been knows to let my cat really close to his face, i won't say kissing but way to close for me. It always bugs me because cats lick there butts regularly and often. So one day, I gave him the most quizical look I could muster and said, "Yip kitty butt" and then walk away - He says, "What? What? What?" I just say, "yip kitty butt"
It didn't solve anything but I got a laugh. And my daughter who was in the room at the time totally got is an almost feel out of her chair laughing - and they say I am not a funny guy - Oh - PLEASE!

An out-of-town trip of any length leaves us lethargic upon return home. It takes about two weeks to get back to normal. We just drag around through whatever duties absolutely has to be done.

REST.

Grayquill: When I think about all the things Cosette tries to eat while on her walks, and all the unsavory things she loves to roll around in, I can see why we all try to fend her off. By the way, you're like Jay. You try to type too fast. I nag him about it, much to his disgust. lol

Nitwit1: It has been a week, and I'm still recuperating.
