So, I haven't blogged for a while. So, sue me. I've been busy. You have no idea how busy I've been lately. OK, so I've had all the time in the world, between naps, but when you're as inactive as I am, it's hard to come up with a blog post (she whined).
However, I have been reading YOURS, and even commenting. Sometimes I get so caught up in reading other peoples' blogs that there is no time left for me to do one of my own. OK, there's plenty of time, but you all have such interesting ideas and mine are so dull (she whimpered).
Anyhoo, one of the blogs I love to read is The Fabulous Geezersisters. It's a wildly popular blog, read and commented on by hundreds, and deservedly so. Yesterday, Ruth Pennebaker explained her theory that she never does nothing. No matter how it appears, she is always doing something. She calls it "gestating". And, I have decided to adopt this philosophy.
Here's the deal. If I haven't blogged for a while, it is because I have been busy gestating. If you see me, you might think I am sleeping or simply staring slack-jawed at a blank wall. But, on the inside, I'm a veritable beehive of activity - gestating, you see. It may not be immediately apparent, but my mind is churning away, thinking deep thoughts. Sometimes these thoughts even come to life in a blog post - not often, but sometimes.
A blog post like this one, for instance.
Stay tuned.

Gestating, eh? I think you may have hit on something here - or rather the Geezersisters have! I love it!
See that sounds to me like you growing a baby inside you or something. The whole "gestation period" thing.
I'll check back to see if you have an annoucement that Kel and Jay are going to have a new little bro or sis. ;-)
I was wondering where you were, missed reading your blog. Gestating, sounds good to me :)
I think I like it, Betty!! From now on, that will be MY excuse too!
Betty, you are SO allowed to gestate, I wish I could do that but with 4 kids here under 12 you just know I have no time to do it. Time enough later in life right :)
Gosh I hope gestating doesn't hurt for it sure sounds like a great idea. Is it kind of like fishing? Where you sit and do nothing but your lack of action has a title. Love it.
Gestating, huh? I call it cogitating. I thought gestating was what insects do but I could be wrong.
Dogwalkmusings: Those Geezersisters have some goo ideas.
Karen: At my age, the only thing I can hope to give birth to is an idea.
Looking To The Stars: I just run out of ideas now and then. So, I take a breather.
kenju: Watch out! Karen will think you're pregnant. lol
Cazzie: You're on the go too much to gestate. On the other hand, you always have something to blog about.
Arkansas Patti: It doesn't hurt a bit. I guess you could say it's a lot like fishing without baiting the hook.
Kay: Cogitating is good, too. But, it sound like think about something specific. Gestating is just letting your mind go blank and seeing what develops. Come to think of it, Karen, it IS kind of like giving birth without the mess and the pain and the resonsibility.
still but always moving.
Finally...the right word to describe what I seem to be doing most of the time these days. Thanks for adding to my vocabulary. ;)
Oh so that's what I have been doing all this time - gestating. I thought I was just losing it. (Blank mind and blank memory, you know.)
I'm glad you put a name to it Betty; now I have an excuse for that deer in the headlights look.
According to Wikipedia gestating is "Gestation is the carrying of an embryo or fetus inside a female viviparous animal. ..." I SO won't go THERE! I didn't look up viviparous and was left scratching my head as to why they would give a definition with a definition that would have to be looked up... It makes my head hurt. How about Restating...
thinking is hard work and can't be rushed
your first 2 paragraphs reminded me so much of Jay! the nut doesn't fall too far fom the tree?
Queen Size Funny Bone: Exactly!
Joan: You're welcome.
Darlene: Now you know what to tell people.
Punkn: I'll stick by the word. It seems to apply when I'm trying to hatch an idea. lol
Dianne: Which one is the nut and which is the tree?
the nut and the tree is probably interchangeable although my son always says I'm the tree and he's whatever trait he wants to blame on me at the moment ;)
I say the Mom always gets to be whatever she wants and can change it whenever she wants
Dianne: I think you're right.
You are absolutely hilarious & you now have me as a follower, whether you like it or not! (that's what you get for commenting on MY blog)
I've been busy resting for my next great series of words that might or might not go together to make any sense. Or something like that. I forgot already. I'm definitely going to stalk you now... Don't be scared. I'll stalk anyone that makes me giggle uncontrollably.
Betty: We all gestate a bit and more as we get older. No Biggy! It's always a pleasure to read your blog and hear your thoughts on things large and small. Glad to hear from you again.
Rich
Snooty Primadona: Thanks for visiting. I hope you will come back. I lapse into political rants every now and then - fair warning. I'm enjoying your blog, too.
Richard: I'm going to try to blog more often, but can't guarantee anything.
Maybe you should swap gestating for drinking lmfao...... cheers LOL
x
Marmite Toasty: Can't I do both?
Welcome back! You always have such interesting opinions! :-)
